‘I have something for you:’ Man arrested in deadly Frayser shooting

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police arrested a man they say shot and killed the father of his girlfriend’s children following an argument in Frayser last month.

Donta Swain, 28, is charged with First-Degree Murder.

On April 7, Memphis Police responded to the area of Ardmore Street regarding a shooting. They found a man with multiple gunshots; he was pronounced dead on the scene.

A woman told officers that the victim, her child’s father, came to Swain’s house to talk to her. Swain was reportedly her new boyfriend.

Records state that Swain and the victim got into an argument. The woman heard Swain tell the victim, “I have something for you.”

She left the scene, fearing that Swain was going to get a gun. As she was driving away, she heard multiple gunshots.

When she went back to the scene, she allegedly saw Swain walking back into the house, and her child’s father lying unresponsive in the driveway.

MPD says video footage showed Swain shooting the victim and going back inside the home. They found a 38 special revolver inside a closet at the residence.
