Ian Alexander Jr., the son of Emmy Award-winning actress Regina King, died by suicide at the age of 26 years old, according to NBC News

A representative for King confirmed her son's death to the outlet.

The network noted he was a DJ and musician whose stage name was "desduné." A Spotify page under that stage name said that he was a "Renaissance man of our time, he sings, produces, acts, paints and even is a celebrity chef."

"Desduné grew up in a musical household and grew to have a deep appreciation for all aspects of music including DJing, production and recording," the bio added.

In a statement provided through her representative, King called her son a "bright light," NBC News noted.

"Our family is devastated at the deepest level by the loss of Ian. He is such a bright light who cared so deeply about the happiness of others," she said.

"Our family asks for respectful consideration during this private time," King added.

Lawmakers and others took to social media to give their condolences to the "Watchmen" actress.

"Prayers up for Queen Regina King and her family. As a mother I'm grieving for her loss," Del. Stacey Plaskett (D-Virgin Islands) tweeted.

"Sending our love and deepest condolences to Regina King for the loss of her son. Please keep her and her family in your prayers during this most difficult time. We love you," Derrick Johnson, president of the NAACP, tweeted.

"Friends, check in on your loved ones today. You never know what someone is going through."
