South Korean actor Song Hye-kyo will star in the upcoming Netflix original drama series “The Glory,” penned by esteemed screenwriter Kim Eun-sook.

The upcoming epic revenge drama deviates from the romance genre Kim has become associated with after a number of major hits, including “Goblin,” “Heirs,” “Secret Garden” and “Descendants of the Sun.” Kim and Song previously worked together on the latter.

“The Glory” follows the story of Moon Dong-eun, a former victim of school violence who seeks revenge on the bullies and bystanders that ruined her childhood. An opportunity arises when she becomes an elementary school teacher where her bully’s child attends.

Lee Do-hyun, who previously appeared on Netflix’s “Sweet Home,” stars alongside Song as a character with a dark, secret past of his own hidden by his otherwise cheerful demeanor. Other members of the cast include Lim Ji-yeon, Yeom Hye-ran, Park Sung-hoon and Jung Sung-il.

The upcoming drama is produced by Hwa & Dam and helmed by director Ahn Gil-ho, whose notable works include “Happiness,” “The Stranger,” “Memories of the Alhambra” and “Record of Youth.”

A release date for the series has yet to be announced.
