NORTHERN CALIFORNIA — As 2021 comes to a close, we take a look back at the year's most-read news stories in Northern California.

As we pause to reflect on the past year, we remember the lives lost to the coronavirus and how some businesses were forced to close their doors because of the pandemic. We also reflect on our neighbors who made the days of quarantine brighter.

We take a look back at mask mandates and the vaccine rollout.

We also recall stories about weird weather and a "sonic boom."
