Sonora's Jaime Buitron named MVP of District 2-3A Division II football
Sonora High School's Jaime Buitron was named Most Valuable Player as the all-district team was announced for District 2-3A Division II football on Monday.
Buitron, a sophomore quarterback/safety, led the Broncos to the No. 1 seed out of the district after they tied with Brady and Grape Creek for the district championship. Sonora earned the top seed because of tiebreaker rules in the district.
Grape Creek was honored with a superlative pick and a Coaching Staff of the Year selection. Brady had two superlative selections.
Grape Creek senior running back Isaiah Briones and Brady sophomore running back Zeke Jones were named co-Offensive MVPs.
The Defensive MVP was Brady senior defensive end D.J. Powell.
Sonora was honored with two additional superlative selections. Marcos Villalobos, a senior tackle, was the Lineman of the Year. Junior Hunter O'Banon was the Utility Player of the Year.
Newcomer of the Year honors went to Ingram Moore freshman Kye Hightower.
