SONS Chevrolet moving locations in Columbus. Current property to be sold, owner says

The owner of the property where SONS Chevrolet is currently located said the dealership’s owners decided not to renew their lease.

The news provides some insight into The Ledger-Enquirer’s prior reporting early in May that the popular dealership would be moving to a new location in Columbus. While SONS Chevrolet has not commented on the impending move, signs and broker listings indicated the property was for sale and a new location was cited.

Emanuel Jones, owner of the current location of the dealership that SONS Chevrolet has been leasing, told the Ledger-Enquirer that SONS Chevrolet still has two and a half years left on their lease.

“After their six and a half years they had made a decision that they did not want to, they were not going to renew their lease, and with them not renewing their lease it just made since for me to sell the facility,” Jones said.

It was not clear, however, if SONS planned to break the lease. or when the dealership would move. The Ledger-Enquirer reached out to SONS Auto Group for comment and was not able to make contact.

Recent reporting by the Ledger-Enquirer announced the future moving of SONS Chevrolet from its location on Manchester Expressway to a location on Whittlesey Boulevard across from Synovus Bank.

The dealership is currently listed for $14 million on multiple websites through Century 21 Real Estate. The dealership was formerly part of Legacy Dealerships and prior to that was part of Bill Heard Enterprises, according to the Ledger-Enquirer archives.

One of the agents for the property, Angelica Rozwadowski, said the property has multiple possible uses such as manufacturing, industry, educational and retail, among others. She said the property is being advertised locally and nationwide.

She said the property encompasses more than 23 acres. The two buildings on the property

comprise approximately 100,000 square feet and there is a large warehouse on the property.

“I was there for 10, and I’ve had this building for what 16 years... and that’s long enough,” Jones said, who was the owner of prior Legacy dealership.
