Sophia Bush Won’t Return For ‘Chicago PD’ Season 5
“Chicago PD” may have just been renewed by NBC for a fifth season, but the series has already lost one of its key characters.
According to Deadline, Sophia Bush’s character, Lindsay, will no longer return to the show. In the finale episode, Lindsay was faced with a tough decision on whether or not to accept a job in the FBI in New York. By the looks of it, the character will accept the job offer, and this is how Lindsay will be written off the TV series.

TV Line reported that Bush decided to leave the “Chicago” franchise on her own, but there is a chance that she will return as a guest star. The news is also quite devastating for the viewers, especially those who tuned in during the Season 4 finale. While Lindsay was thinking about her FBI job in the Big Apple, she purposely ignored her boyfriend, Jay Halstead’s (Jesse Lee Soffer) call. Little did Lindsay know that Jay was ready to pop the big question.
Meanwhile, it is also unclear if Bush’s character will be featured in any of the other “Chicago” TV series that NBC renewed for at least another season. Unfortunately, “Chicago Justice” didn’t make the cut. The series, starring Joelle Carter, Carl Weathers, Monica Barbaro and Jon Seda, was canceled by the network after just one season.
The network’s decision came before NBC’s upfront presentations. According to Deadline, the main reason for axing the series was because of its low ratings. Compared to “Chicago PD,” “Chicago Med” and “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago Justice” was the one that garnered the lowest demo rating and audience share. However, NBC renewed two TV shows that earned much lower ratings compared to “Chicago Justice.” “Shades of Blue” has been renewed for Season 3 and “Taken” has been renewed for Season 2.
“Chicago PD” will return to NBC sometime in the fall. As of late, it is unclear how many episodes Season 5 will have. In Season 1, the series only released a total of 15 episodes. But from Seasons 2 to 4, “Chicago PD” aired a total of 23 episodes.
