Sophie Turner first came into the spotlight in 2011 and has been rather private about her personal life ever since. But recently, the Game of Thrones star opened up about her mental health struggles in an interview with Dr. Phil on his podcast Phil in the Blanks.

Turner shared how she began feeling depressed at 17 years old as a result of criticism she received for her role as Sansa Stark. (Did you know that Emilia Clarke suffered two life-threatening brain aneurysms while filming Game of Thrones?)

“I don’t think I had any issues with it until I was 17 and then it just hit me,” she explained. “It was a combination of social media on the rise at that time, and also my friends were all going to university and I wasn’t going to university. I was working, but I was still living at my parents' house and I felt very alone.”
