Sophie Turner will play another true survivor in her first TV role since Sansa Stark

In her first television role since Game of Thrones, Sophie Turner will play yet another survivor, à la Sansa Stark. But this time, Turner’s character, Jane, will have to fight her way off a snowy mountain peak after her plane crashes. It seems like her experience as Queen in the North could have prepped Turner well for this.

Dubbed Survive, the thriller is based on the novel of the same name by Alex Morel, as Variety reports, and is slated to premiere on Quibi, the brand-new streaming site co-founded by Jeffery Katzenberg.

As the only two survivors of the plane crash, Jane and her fellow passenger Paul, played by Corey Hawkins of Straight Outta Compton fame, must rely on each other to battle the odds and work through personal traumas, which, if the series follows the books, include Jane’s recent suicide attempts.

Sounds great, right? Having played another badass woman who defied the odds, we can only imagine Turner will knock this performance out of the park.

But…um…what the heck is Quibi?

Set to launch in April 2020, Quibi, which stands for “quick bites,” is a streaming platform specifically formatted for phones that focuses on content that runs about 10 minutes long. It already features some huge-name talent and exciting projects, including the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days reboot.

“What we say internally is we’d like to be the quality of HBO and offer customers the convenience of Spotify,” co-founder Meg Whitman told The Los Angeles Times on August 1st. “We’re not Facebook Watch. We’re not Snapchat. We’re not Instagram TV. We’re not YouTube. We’re Quibi, and it’s not denigrating those platforms at all…but we’re staking out a premium position relative to those.”

Quibi users can subscribe to the service for $4.99 per month with ads or $7.99 a month, ad-free. Despite our Quibi confusion, we’ll gladly shell out a couple of $5 bills to see Turner take on (and hopefully survive) her next great adventure.
