Fans hoping to see country music star Morgan Wallen Wednesday at Topgolf at The Colony as a part of the Academy of Country Music Lifting Lives concert series will have to wait. Wallen posted a video on his social media accounts Tuesday saying he was ordered by his doctors to go on vocal rest for six weeks due to vocal cord trauma.

“[My doctors] want me to not talk at all but they said if I need to, it’s OK for something like this,” Wallen said in the video. “They told me that if I do this the right way then I’ll get back to 100%. And they also said that if I don’t listen and I keep singing, that I’ll permanently damage my voice. So for the longevity of my career, this is just the choice I had to make.”

Jason Aldean, nominated for Entertainer of the Year at this year’s ACMs, will step in to perform in Wallen’s place.

Wallen said he is working on rescheduling all upcoming concert dates for the next six weeks. He will miss performing any festivals or other one-off performances he had scheduled. He was supposed to play Austin and Houston at the end of May.

Two of those one-off performances were set to be in North Texas this week — the ACMs at the Star in Frisco on Thursday (Wallen is nominated for four awards, including Entertainer of the Year), and the ACM Lifting Lives show at Topgolf at The Colony on Wednesday with HARDY, Lainey Wilson, ERNEST, Bailey Zimmerman and DJ 13lackbeard.

“Y’all make sure you still go. It’s for a great cause,” Wallen said of the ACM Lifting Lives show.

Lifting Lives is the philanthropic partner of the ACM, providing emergency relief aid and music therapy programs.

This is Wallen’s second cancellation on his One Night at a Time Tour. Wallen was set to perform at Ole Miss on April 23. He canceled the show after the opener performed, with minutes to go until Wallen took the stage. Wallen has since apologized for the cancellation, saying he lost his voice and was unable to sing.

This angered many fans, including one who went viral for her cost breakdown of how much she spent going to Wallen’s Ole Miss show.

Can I get a refund for my Morgan Wallen tickets for the ACM Lifting Lives event at Topgolf?

Yes. Topgolf’s Concert on the Green policy is to never give refunds on tickets for any reason, but a PR representative for the Lifting Lives event told the Star-Telegram Wednesday refunds are available to anyone who wants one via AXS support.

Limited tickets are still available through AXS. At last check, they were going for $350.

“We look forward to seeing existing ticket buyers tonight for an unforgettable night of live music from some of Country Music’s biggest stars, all benefiting ACM Lifting Lives, the philanthropic partner of the Academy of Country Music,” Lifting Lives wrote in an emailed statement.

Wallen’s latest album, “One Thing At A Time,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart this year. 2021’s “Dangerous: The Double Album” was the top-selling country album that year, despite Wallen being caught on video yelling a racial slur. He has since apologized for that, too.
