Party politics
After two weeks without a House Speaker, some Republicans are considering reaching out to Democrats to elect a speaker with bipartisan support. What a ridiculous concept … both parties of Congress working together for the good of the country. This is outrageous and must not be tolerated. These representatives were elected to support their political party, not the people of the U.S.
Presidential idea
The Sound Off saying it’s time for a female president was a great idea. I would like to nominate Condoleezza Rice. Maybe the most accomplished Black woman in our history and the descendant of slaves. But Dr. Rice was not even allowed by the left to speak at one of her alma maters. Somehow I think the writer, who for some reason, felt the need to automatically rule out a couple of Republicans, would not approve. Also one of the current leaders in the Republican presidential primary, a former governor and UN Ambassador, is a minority woman. There is your chance, get out there and support her.

Welcome home
May God bless the 25 individuals who recently became new citizens of our country. In a sad time when many Americans are either ashamed or take for granted the freedoms we all enjoy in the United States, it is heartening to see those who have decided to become one of us. Welcome.
Brandon Presley
While I often vote Republican, not this time. Years ago, before I even knew whether there was a “D” or “R” in front of his name, I became an admirer of Brandon Presley for his brave, intelligent and early opposition to probably the biggest boondoggle in Mississippi history, the Kemper County “clean coal” plant. The political leadership even managed to pass laws, forcing the ratepayers to finance the unproven and ultimately failed technology, resulting in billions of dollars in cost overruns. Brandon Presley was looking out for the interests of the people of this state and I’m sad that most folks won’t even consider voting for him simply because of his party, although he’s clearly a moderate.
Send them back?
The law says if you’re here on a student visa, you cannot associate with known terrorist organizations or support them. Every singe foreign student who is protesting for Hamas against Israel should have their student visa revoked and sent home. It is a privilege and an opportunity to study in an American university, not a right.
Too much baggage
The world is in a very dangerous condition now and we need experienced leaders that don’t speak without thinking first. A president should always be thinking of country first and honor the constitution that holds our country together. Biden is the candidate that fits the bill. Trump has too much baggage.
One question
We sent $3.3 billion to Israel in 2022 as we have done every year. The money is supposed to go toward security, so do they really need more money?
