Sounds of the 80s taking over WHS auditorium Saturday night

May 31—On Saturday, in the Washington High School auditorium, Mixtape, an 80s tribute band, will take concert-goers back in time. The group has shared the stage with Rick Springfield, .38 Special, Foreigner, Kiss and more.

According to the band's website, the group will share top hits from artists and bands like Journey, Bon Jovi, Toto, Huey Lewis & The News, Van Halen, REO Speedwagon, Mr. Mister, Chicago, Bryan Adams, The Outfield, Tears For Fears, Dire Straits, The Romantics, Poison, Night Ranger, A-ha, Yes, Glass Tiger, Bad English, Don Henley, Peter Gabriel, Loverboy, and others. With fully customized 80s laser lights and video displays, concert goers will without a doubt spot some of their favorite 80s music video moments on stage.

The concerts don't atop with Mixtape. Flash forward to Aug. 12 and A.R. Cash, a tribute to Johnny and June, will take over the high school auditorium stage. A.R. Cash started in 2013 and features Ashley Robertson.

The final show will ring in the holiday season on Nov. 18 when Rockland Road comes to town. A six-piece family band from Nashville, the musicians play 23 different instruments. Jamie and Paul Martin are joined by their four children March, Kell, Texas and Tallant. If Paul's name sounds familiar that's because he is the Grammy-winning lead singer of country group Exile, also known as "Apostle Paul" on The Marty Stuart Show, and his wife Jamie is the daughter of Duane Allen, lead singer of the legendary Oak Ridge Boys.

"I hope everyone will enjoy this year's line-up. The positive feedback after every show lets us know the community is really enjoying this and as long as the people keep coming, our goal is to keep bringing quality shows and entertainment right here to Washington," said DeWayne Shake, who is aprt of the Washington Community Concert committee, adding the concert series is made possible with support from community sponsors.

Tickets for the single shows are $25 each and will be available at the Daviess County Chamber of Commerce and Springs Valley Bank and Trust as well as at the door. Season tickets are available for $85. Doors open for the shows at 6:30 p.m. with the concerts starting at 7:30.
