The Kings made a roster move Monday while preparing to play the Los Angeles Lakers in their second preseason game Wednesday at Honda Center in Anaheim.

A league source told The Sacramento Bee the Kings have waived veteran guard Jeremy Lamb. Upon clearing waivers, Lamb is expected to join Sacramento’s G League affiliate in Stockton.

Lamb came off the bench to score six points in six minutes when the Kings opened preseason play with a 112-99 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Sunday at Rogers Arena in Vancouver. He went 1 of 2 from 3-point range and 3 of 4 at the free-throw line.

Lamb, 31, is a 6-foot-5 shooting guard who came out of UConn as the 12th overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft. He spent three seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder, four seasons with the Charlotte Hornets and three seasons with the Indiana Pacers before coming to Sacramento in the 2022 trade that sent Tyrese Haliburton and Buddy Hield to Indiana in exchange for All-Star center Domantas Sabonis.

Lamb appeared in 17 games for the Kings in 2021-22, averaging 7.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists.

Sacramento’s roster now stands at 20. The Kings must cut down to 18 players — 15 on standard NBA contracts and three two-way players — before the regular season begins.
