In his interview with Yahoo News, Adams detailed the practices that county election officials use to ensure that ballots are not tampered with, and refuted the notion, floated by Trump and Attorney General William Barr, that a foreign government could plant false ballots into the middle of an election. Kentucky is one of 42 states, along with the District of Columbia, that tracks its mail ballots, according to data compiled by the Voting Rights Lab, an advocacy group that analyzes voting laws. Like many states, Kentucky uses a bar code that is generated once a voter applies for and requests a mail ballot.

Richard Spencer, a prominent neo-Nazi who coined the term "alt-right," said over the weekend that he would vote for Joe Biden in the November election. "I plan to vote for Biden and a straight democratic ticket," Spencer tweeted on Sunday. Biden's campaign forcefully disavowed Spencer's endorsement shortly after, describing him as part of the "vile forces of hate who have come crawling out from under rocks" in the US.

As two powerful storms menaced the Gulf Coast Monday, forecasters feared Marco would drive sea water onto the shore and unleash torrential rains just two days before Laura lashes the same region with potentially more powerful storm surge and hurricane-force winds. Forecasters raised the ominous possibility that warm waters in the Gulf of Mexico could super-charge Laura into a powerful hurricane. Laura's center was remaining just off Cuba's shore, and was not expected to weaken over land before entering the gulf.

People are reportedly bypassing Facebook's marketplace policies and selling guns by pretending to sell stickers, per a Wall Street Journal report. The outlet found four sellers selling stickers promoting gun makers' logos and priced for hundreds of dollars who confirmed when contacted privately that they were actually selling firearms. Facebook prohibits the private sale of guns and ammunition on its marketplace, a policy that sellers have skirted in the past by pretending to advertise gun cases to instead sell firearms.

Mike Pompeo's planned speech to the Republican National Convention this week has sparked a fury of criticism for breaking decades of precedent for sitting secretaries of state avoiding overt partisan political activity. Despite State Department assurances that Pompeo will be speaking in his personal capacity and won't violate prohibitions on federal employees participating in public political events on duty, Democrats and others have cried foul. Four teams of lawyers, including the State Department legal counsel, have reviewed the speech that will be recorded in Jerusalem and broadcast in prime time at the Republican convention on Tuesday to ensure that it does not cross ethical lines, according to a person close to Pompeo who was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.
Adam Haner, the driver who was dragged from his pick-up truck and beaten by rioters in Portland last week, is questioning the motives of protestors, saying “they're exhibiting the same behavior that they're trying to stop.” Haner's comments came during a Saturday appearance on Fox News' “Watters World” during which he explained that he and his girlfriend, Tammie Martin, had been attempting to aid a woman they saw being robbed when the attack occurred. A crowd of Black Lives Matter and Antifia rioters surrounded Haner's truck around 10:30 p.m. after he crashed into a light pole at Southwest Broadway and Taylor Street.
American Airlines just added a new weapon to its arsenal for the ongoing fight against the pandemic: a disinfectant that kills COVID-19 on surfaces for a full week after it's applied. The US Environmental Protection Agency announced on Monday that it had issued an emergency authorization to the state of Texas, allowing the state to clear American Airlines (which is headquartered in Fort Worth) to use the new disinfectant. The product, known as SurfaceWise2, can kill viruses and bacteria for up to seven days after being applied, EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler said during a press conference on Monday.

US Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue appeared to flagrantly violate the ethics law prohibiting government officials from making political statements during officials events when he advocated for "four more years" for President Donald Trump at an official function in Mills River, N.C., on Monday. Mr Perdue's remarks, which followed the president's, were broadcast live on the White House's official live streaming channel on YouTube, an apparent violation of the Hatch Act, which prohibits government employees from engaging in partisan activities while on duty. Mr Perdue made at least two other references during his roughly three-minute speech to the upcoming presidential election this November between Mr Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden.
