Plans for the long weekend? Why not swing by a local brewery?

We looked over a slew of tap lists from New London and Windham counties, we've found what local breweries are serving up this weekend. This weekend's highlights include Epicure Brewing's 7.8% India Pale Ale "Son of a Bee," Fox Farm Brewery's 6.1% Open Fermented Saison "Bloom'd," Tox Brewing Company's 5% Fruited Sour "Lily of the Valley Cherry," and Black Pond Brews 6% New England IPA "Hold My Juice Box."

Check out the list below for some highlights from each brewery.

Bear Hands Brewing Company

Lemmon Drop: 6.8% New England IPA.

"This is a single hop New England style IPA brewed solely with Lemondrop hops, and just a kiss of lemon pureé. With subtle citrusy and herbal aromatics this hazy, zesty, effervescent IPA drops nice and smooth."

Everything But Your Name On The Cup: 7.6% Imperial Pumpkin Spice Latte Stout.

"This Stout balances nearly 60 lbs. of pumpkin pie filling, with our own tincture of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and allspice, blended with a touch of vanilla, then we crashed it with a hefty amount of Sidamo/Sidama freshly roasted coffee beans from Chubby Dog Coffee Co. This stout brings all the flavors of pumpkin spice, and a nice latte you'd expect your favorite barista to serve, but in a beer! It's Everything But Your Name On The Cup."

Dessert: 8% Imperial Vanilla Coconut Porter.

"This imperial vanilla coconut porter is a medium bodied beer. The chocolate roasted malts give a slight battering that is countered with the sweetness of vanilla. The hints of coconut on the tail end give it a delightful finish. This beer is so good it could be a dessert."

Epicure Brewing

Bogger Rodenzok: 5.2% Sour Cranberry Ale.

Fox Farm Brewery

Stet: 5% Düsseldorf-Style Altbier.

"Our Düsseldorf-Style Altbier. We’ve expressed our love and admiration for historic brewing cultures before and like Kölsch in nearby Cologne, Altbier has withstood centuries of trends and innovations, to remain the unique standard-bearer for a proud beer drinking city. Brewed with an ale yeast we’re growing increasingly fond of and familiar with and lagered for eight weeks, it delivers malt richness and complexity while remaining crisp and eminently drinkable. Perfect for kicking off a festive meal!"

Bloom'd: 6.1% Open Fermented Saison.

"This one is for the saison lovers. With Bloom’d, we explore an entirely new fermentation profile - one that layers modern saison character with our approach to farmhouse ales. Following our spontaneous brewing season last April we brewed Bloom’d, sending the hot wort into our coolship. After a night of cooling exposed to outside air, we pitched a single saison strain (a first at Fox Farm) and let Bloom’d ferment in our coolship over several days. The beer was then transferred to one of our oak foeders typically used for farmhouse ales - there our usual house mixed-culture (residing in the wood) started to shine through little by little over a period of four months. Bloom’d was bottled in August and naturally carbonated to a slightly higher level than our typical target. Up front, Bloom’d delivers on the qualities we look for in a saison: characterful yeast, energetic carbonation, firm hop presence. While it’s dry in the finish, the stone fruit and lemon zest we’ve come to expect from our farmhouse ales lends a level of depth and balance."

Fox Farm Brewery is located at 62 Music Vale Road in Salem.
