South Bay DMV Locations To Reopen Thursday

REDONDO BEACH, CA — The California Department of Motor Vehicles will reopen the Torrance and Hawthorne DMV offices on Thursday at 1785 W 220th St, Torrance and 3700 W El Segundo Blvd, Hawthorne.

Customers must make an appointment in advance and limited services will be offered, though more services will be offered online, DMV said. If you previously had an appointment that was canceled, you will receive priority when rescheduling.

DMV offices are reopening in phases after all offices were closed for cleaning March 27. On Thursday, a total of 71 offices will be open statewide.

Customers must follow wear face masks, stay six feet apart in line, and wait outside. There will be fewer seats inside and wait times could be longer than normal.

Employees will be provided disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer, face masks, gloves, and more to protect themselves and the public.

You may schedule a same-day appointment if you need to apply for a drivers license, reinstate a suspended or revoked license, apply for a disabled parking placard, register a car impounded due to registration issues, and more. See a full list of same-day services here.

Title transfers, partial year and complex vehicle registrations, and more can be performed at DMV's Virtual Field Office.
