South Bend police investigate third shooting in 14-hour span

SOUTH BEND — Three shootings in the span of about 14 hours has South Bend police busy investigating the recent uptick in gun violence.

About 11:20 a.m. Friday, South Bend police called to the area of Hudson and Woodward avenues found two victims with gunshot wounds. A police spokesperson said in a release the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, but condition reports were not immediately available.

The most recent shooting comes less than a day after a male was found with gunshot wounds about 9:20 p.m. Thursday in the 1000 block of Beale Street.

A male victim in the Beale Street shooting was taken to a local hospital for treatment, but a condition of the victim was not released by a police spokesperson.

Police said in a news release late Thursday night there was no active or ongoing threat to others from the incident, but there were no details about the lack of a threat.

All the incidents are being investigated by the South Bend Police Department Violent Crimes Unit.
