South Bend police investigating fatal shooting of teen on Friday afternoon

SOUTH BEND ― Police are investigating a Friday afternoon shooting that left a 16-year-old dead in the 500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.

Police were called to the scene near Ivy Tech Community College around 3:30 p.m. and found Noelle Riggins with apparent gunshot wounds. The South Bend teen was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday, and his family has been notified.

The South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit is handling this investigation.
