South Brunswick postpones Monday fireworks due to storm threat

SOUTH BRUNSWICK - Due to weather predictions of possible strong thunderstorms Monday night, the South Brunswick Independence Day Celebration and fireworks will not be held tonight.The celebration will take place 6 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, July 7 on the fields of Crossroads Middle School on the corner of Major Road and Kingston Lane.The program begins at 6 p.m. and the fireworks begin at 9 p.m.South Brunswick Police are advising residents that there will be increased traffic in and around the school and surrounding neighborhoods. The streets of Major Road, Kingston Lane and Georges Road will have increased pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Officers will be stationed in and around the event to assist with traffic issues. There will be no parking allowed on Major Road, Kingston Lane or Georges Road. Police anticipate the greatest volume of traffic between 7:30 p.m.10 p.m.

The primary location for parking will be Crossroads South Middle School parking lots off Kingston Lane. There will be no general parking at the Crossroads North parking lots off Georges Road. Additional parking will be in the parking lots of Saint Cecelia Roman Catholic Church, South Brunswick Public Library and the Municipal Complex.
