South Carolina basketball leads No. 2 Alabama at halftime after half-court buzzer beater

South Carolina basketball has No. 2 Alabama on upset alert.

Meechie Johnson hit a half-court buzzer beating shot to end the first half with the Gamecocks leading 35-31 on Wednesday at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia.

Johnson's long shot capped off a strong first half effort from the Gamecocks, who shot 55.3% in the first half and forced 8 Alabama turnovers.

Here is Johnson's shot, via ESPN:

G.G. Jackson had 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting in a battle with Alabama freshman Brandon Miller, who had 15 first half points.

Miller has been the center of off-court chatter following his involvement of a fatal shooting in Tuscaloosa on Jan. 15. A police investigator testified on Tuesday during a preliminary bond hearing for former Alabama basketball player Darius Miles and Michael Davis that Miller had been at the scene of a fatal shooting on the Tuscaloosa Strip on Jan. 15 and brought the gun to the scene.

Miller has not been charged with a crime. Miles and Davis are facing capital murder charges in the shooting death of 23-year-old Jamea Jonae Harris.
