South Carolina Department of Transportation sets public meeting to discuss Marlboro County bridge replacement

MARLBORO COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — South Carolina transportation officials will host a public meeting this month to discuss the proposed replacement of a bridge on Highway 9 over Crooked Creek in Marlboro County.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation has scheduled the meeting for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Feb. 15 at the Bennettsville Community Center located at 714 N. Marlboro Street in Bennettsville.

The Transportation Department said the existing span is “structurally deficient” and needs to be replaced. The project would also include improvements to the bridge approaches.

The new bridge would accommodate four 12-foot travel lanes along with a five-foot-wide sidewalk on each side. More information about the project can be found on SCDOT’s project website.
