South Carolina football offers pair of hometown receiving prospects

The South Carolina football program has extended offers for two up-and-coming local wide receiver recruits.

Newberry High’s Jamel Howse was offered by the Gamecocks on Tuesday, he reported via social media, four days after USC offered Ridge View’s Jordon Gidron. Both are Class of 2026 prospects.

The Gamecocks also offered Irmo receiver Donovan Murph last week.

Howse had a big sophomore season for the Bulldogs and was a first-team Class 2A all-state selection. He had 36 catches for 789 yards, nine touchdowns and also rushed for 189 yards and two TDs.

The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Howse also has offers from Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Coastal Carolina.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Girdron had offers from Florida State, Miami, Coastal Carolina and N.C. State before getting one from USC on Dec. 15. He led the Blazers this season with 45 receptions for 731 yards and 10 touchdowns in eight games.
