South Carolina fugitive wanted for deadly shooting arrested in McKeesport

A man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting in South Carolina was arrested in McKeesport.

Travis Burton is charged with criminal homicide and possession of a firearm, accused of fatally shooting a 65-year-old man on Johns Island, South Carolina on Jan. 14.

According to the United States Marshals Service, the U.S. Marshals Carolina Regional Fugitive Task Force provided information that Burton was possibly in McKeesport. The U.S. Marshals Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force then worked to find his precise location.

In the early morning hours of March 15, the task force and McKeesport police found Burton hiding in the basement of a home in the 600 block of Romine Street.

Burton was arrested and taken to the Allegheny County where he’s waiting to be extradited back to South Carolina.
