Greenville area high school football roundup, Week 3: Eastside and Wade Hampton win again

Week 3 was a full slate of good inter-county matchups.

J.L. Mann lost its first game of the year. Greenville got its first win. Hillcrest, Christ Church and St. Joes all won again too. See a roundup of all the action from Week 3 of the football season in Greenville County:

Greenville 70, Mauldin 7: Greenville quarterback Bryson Drummond threw five touchdown passes. Jayvion Sherman rushed for two scores and Greenville blocked a punt for a touchdown. Keyshawn Robinson and Thomas Edmondson each had an interception. Mauldin's only touchdown was scored by Aaron Bowens.

Byrnes 23, Greer 14: Chase Byrd had 146 receiving yards for Greer (1-3). Josh Runion threw for 199 yards and two scores. LaDainnian Martin led Greer with 58 rushing yards on 14 carries. Bryce Foster had double-digit tackles.

Walhalla 50, Southside 25: Southside (1-2) trailed 30-13 at the half and Walhalla improved to 2-1 on the year.

Easley 21, J.L. Mann 14: Mann (3-1) just missed on starting 4-0 for the first time since 1996. Ethan Anderson completed 22-of-39 passes for over 200 yards, Mikel McClellan had eight catches for 83 yards and Toby Cates Jr. and Tripp O'Neil caught touchdowns for Mann. Na'Cyus Morrison rushed six times for 21 yards.

Carolina 20, Fountain Inn 7: Carolina (2-2) has now won two games in a season for the first time since 2019 and the second time since 2013 after beating Fountain Inn (0-4).

Wade Hampton 56, Berea 0: Nigel Bruster rushed for nearly 300 yards and Cooper Tankersley scored three rushing touchdowns for the Generals (2-2) in a win over Berea (1-2). Tankersley was 6-of-12 passing for 127 yards and a touchdown.

St. Joseph's Catholic 45, Seneca 35: St. Joe (4-0) passed its first major test of the season with a win over previously undefeated Seneca (3-1). Walker Wood had 136 rushing yards and 173 passing yards in the win. CJ Johnson had 43 receiving yards and a score and William Gillespie had two rushing scores

Christ Church 38, Riverside 30: Dashun Reeder scored four rushing TDs and Constantine Gandis had a 33-yard field goal for CC (2-1). Cayden Cosby had four catches for 63 yards and a touchdown for Riverside (1-3). Stewart Chaffee and Rob Sanders each threw TD passes. Mikkel Skinner and Zach Beasley each scored rushing touchdowns. Patrick McMaster had two sacks for the Caval

Woodmont 49, Travelers Rest 29: Woodmont (3-1) led 35-21 at the half and a pick-six got things going early to make it 21-7 in a win over Travelers Rest (1-3).

Eastside 37, Blue Ridge 20: Blue Ridge (2-2) trailed 24-20 heading in to the fourth. Eastside (2-2) surpassed its 2021 win total with the victory. Eastside's Ethan Fasuyi had 15 total tackles, four tackles-for-loss and a forced fumble. Langston Scott had 14 total tackles. Tre Brown and Braydon Hill each had an interception. Jaden Page was 9-of-17 passing for 144 yards and Kalvin Banks scored five rushing touchdowns.

Hillcrest 48, Boiling Springs 0: Bennett Judy threw three touchdown passes, Logan Coldren had over 150 rushing yards and Avery McFadden had six catches for 65 yards for Hillcrest (4-0) Jaylen Neal had two receiving touchdowns and over 100 yards receiving. AJ Mayberry caught a touchdown and Thomas Stanley scored on the ground.

Chapman 24, Laurens 21 (OT): Chapman (1-3) kicked a game-winning field goal to knock off Laurens (0-4) in overtime.
