Greenville area high school football roundup, Week 0: Mann and Riverside offenses shine

Here is a look at what happened in Week 0 of the SCHSL football season in the Greenville area:

Dorman 53, Greenville 28: Jordan Sink was 24-of-34 passing for 251 yards and two touchdowns for Greenville (0-1). Tyler Brown had eight catches for 81 yards and a touchdown, Luke Krall had six catches for 61 yards and a score. Jayvion Sherman toted the rock 11 times for 29 yards and two scores.

D.W. Daniel 51, Greer 21: Chase Byrd had 13 catches for 124 yards and two touchdowns for Greer (0-1). LaDainnian Martin rushed 22 times for 67 yards and a score. Kaden Rowland threw for 138 yards on 17-of-28 passing with two touchdown throws.

Hillcrest 41, Laurens 7: Quarterback Bennett Judy was 14-for-25 passing for 226 yards and four scores. Avery McFadden had six receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown. Logan Coldren rushed for 77 yards and caught two passes, one of them for a score. Jaylen Neal had six grabs for 77 yards and a touchdown, while Grab Holliday caught three passes for a touchdown and 41 yards.

Riverside 61, Travelers Rest 21: Robinson Sanders threw for 280 yards and had seven touchdown passes (13-of-18 passing) and a rushing TD for Riverside (1-0). Warrior wideout Cayden Cosby had four catches for 144 yards, all of them touchdown receptions. Owen Lundin had 71 receiving yards and a touchdown catch. Zach Beasley rushed for 89 yards on 11 carries.

J.L. Mann 56, Eastside 14: Ethan Anderson threw six touchdown passes for J.L. Mann. Toby Cates Jr. had three catches for 100 yards and three scores, Na'Cyus Morrison toted the rock seven times for 75 yards and two touchdowns and Mykel McClellan had 241 receiving yards.

Blue Ridge 42, Chesnee 37: Friday night was the Tigers first win over Chesnee since defeating the Eagles, 20-19, in 2002.

Commerce (Ga.) 21, Southside Christian 17: The defeat at the hands of Commerce is the Sabres first loss since losing in the 2019 Class A state title game.

Seneca 42, Wade Hampton (G) 19: Cooper Tankersley was 13-of-24 passing for 151 yards and two interceptions for Wade Hampton. Thomas Co caught seven passes for 84 yards. Nigel Bruster rushed for two touchdowns.

St. Joseph's 43, Fox Creek 7: Johnny Jaraczewski had six tackles, one tackle-for-loss and Chris Johnson scored three rushing touchdowns to lead St. Joe's in a big season-opening win.

Liberty 17, Carolina Academy 6

AC Flora 38, Greenwood 20
