South Carolina offensive lineman Jovaughn Gwyn was picked in the seventh round of the NFL Draft on Saturday.

The Atlanta Falcons took Gwyn with their final pick of the three-day draft at No. 225 overall. He was the fourth Gamecock to be taken in the draft joining defensive lineman Zacch Pickens and defensive backs Cam Smith and Darius Rush.

Gwyn was a versatile offensive lineman that started 47 games for the Gamecocks, fourth most in school history. As a senior, he played offensive guard and was a second-team All-Southeastern Conference selection by the coaches.

The Charlotte, N.C., native had a strong showing in postseason all-star games. He played in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in Pasadena, California, in January. That performance led to a late invitation from the Senior Bowl in Alabama.

Gwyn also received an invite to the NFL Combine, where he tied for second the second most reps in the bench press with 34. He also ran a 5.12-second 40-yard dash — a top 15 time for his position.

“He’s a tenacious run blocker who can operate in multiple schemes but might not be able to shine in any of them,” NFL analyst Lance Zierlein wrote of Gwyn. “Gwyn plays with a firm base and good body control in protection but lacks the length and range to consistently protect gaps. Gwyn will be a one-position player, but he has enough talent and technique to compete for a roster spot at center.”
