South Carolina non-profit creates art work telling veteran stories

A South Carolina non-profit is working with veterans from around the world to help heal social barriers between veterans and civilians, WPDE reports.

Bullets and Bandaids is a veteran-centric art therapy that creates immersive art experiences by connecting veterans with volunteer writers and artists.

WPDE explained that the process entails having selected veterans will sit down for an interview and tell their stories, share their traumas, and speak their truth.

A writer will then translate the interview into a story, and the artist will create a visual element representing it.

The Columbia Museum of Art is currently hosting an exhibit from Bullets and Bandaids. It will showcase some of the recent stories and artwork.

WPDE says the veterans who have participated in the process range in rank and conflicts, spanning anywhere from World War II, to the current war in Ukraine.

The Bullets and Bandaids exhibit will be featured at the Columbia Museum of Art until Sept. 3.
