South Carolina resident killed in two-vehicle collision, coroner says
A motorcycle rider was killed Saturday night in a crash that also involved an SUV, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Christian Tyler Lisenby, a 25-year-old Lancaster resident was identified as the motorcycle rider, Lancaster County Coroner Karla Deese said.
The two-vehicle collision happened at about 6:30 p.m., according to Master Trooper Brandon Bolt of the Highway Patrol.
Lisenby was riding a 2023 Kawasaki north on S.C. 200/Airport Road, and while making a left turn onto Memorial Park Road the motorcycle was hit by a 2017 Jeep SUV that was driving south on S.C. 200, Bolt said.
Lisenby died at the scene, according to Deese.
Bolt said neither the SUV driver nor a 7-year-old passenger in the Jeep were hurt, and no other injuries were reported.
There was no word if Lisenby was wearing a helmet, or if either of the people in the SUV were wearing seat belts.
The crash continues to be investigated by the Highway Patrol and coroner’s office.
Through last Tuesday, 270 people had died on South Carolina roads in 2024, according to the state Department of Public Safety. Last year, 1,030 people died in crashes in South Carolina, DPS reported.
At least five people have died in Lancaster County crashes in 2024, according to DPS data. There were 15 deaths reported in the county in 2023, DPS reported.
