South Carolina women's basketball score vs. Maryland: Live updates from top-20 matchup

COLUMBIA — After routing East Tennessee State in Monday's season opener, No. 1 South Carolina women's basketball faces its first real challenge of the 2022-23 season in No. 17 Maryland.

The Gamecocks (1-0) kick off a series of four straight road games against the Terrapins (1-0) at Xfinity Center on Friday (6 p.m., ESPN2). The two teams have met five times, and South Carolina leads the series 3-2. The Gamecocks have been excellent on the road under coach Dawn Staley with a 111-46 record in away games since she took over the program in 2008.

South Carolina had six players score in double figures Monday, led by 17 points from Zia Cooke. National player of the year Aliyah Boston had a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds. No Gamecock played more than 22 minutes.
