South Central 165-pounder Braden Kiesel finishes first at state powerlifting meet

South Central's boys and girls powerlifting teams competed at the Ohio High School State Powerlifting Meet Saturday at Kenton High School.

Braden Kiesel lifted 1,270 total pounds to finish first in the 165-pound weight class to lead the Trojans, who competed in the Division V, VI and VII category.

Kiesel had the top squat (510 pounds) and deadlift (510) marks and the second-best bench (250). His squat and deadlift totals were both a school record.

Gage Lauderman finished fourth at 175 with 1,100 total pounds lifted. He squatted 390, benched 255 and deadlifted 455.

Sam Bowers placed fifth at 185 with 975 total pounds lifted, squatting 320, benching 190 and deadlifting 465.

Derrick Murray finished sixth at 210 with 930 total pounds lifted. He squatted 345, benched 225 and deadlifted 360.

On the girls side, Sarah Wallen led the way with a fourth-place finish at 175. She finished with 530 total pounds lifted, squatting 175, benching 105 and deadlifting 250.
