South Central powerlifters perform well at Oregon Clay tournament

The South Central Iron Wreckers competed at the third annual Oregon Clay powerlifting meet Saturday at Oregon Clay High School. More than 150 athletes competed at the meet from nine schools.

The SC boys finished third in the team standings with 9,580 pounds lifted.

Braden Kiesel led the way with a first-place finish at 175 pounds. He finished with a meet-record 1,220 total pounds lifted, winning the squat (485) and deadlift (485) while benching 250 pounds. His deadlift mark was a meet and SC record.

Sam Bowers also finished first, winning the title at 185 with 960 pounds lifted. He won the deadlift with 415 pounds, benched 205 and squatted 340.

Parker Grey at 145 (800 total pounds lifted), Gage Lauderman at 165 (1,000) and Gavin Sexton at unlimited (1,120) all placed second. Trey Beverly added a third-place finish at 185 (890).

On the girls side, Kaylee Richards at 115 and Onalee Keysor at 125 both placed first for South Central.

Richards finished with a total of 475 pounds, winning the bench (100), squat (175) and deadlift (200). Her mark in the bench tied the meet record.

Keysor finished with a total of 580 pounds, setting a meet record in the bench (125) and winning the deadlift (235).

Emalee Richards at 115 (475 total pounds lifted), Jaleigh Riddle at 145 (335), Lauran Williams at 155 (460) and Sarah Wallen at 175 (480) all finished second. Wallen also won the deadlift with 240 pounds.

Lydia Keysor placed third at 115 (350) to round out SC's top placers.
