South Dakota high school football scores: Sept. 30

Aberdeen Central 17, Watertown 0 -- Aberdeen Central gained 168 yards on 45 carries and outgained Watertown by only a 260-236 margin in total offense. Drew Salfrank scored on a 35-yard run and Karson Carda a 1-yard run.

Avon 36, Alcester-Hudson 22 -- Paxton Bierema ran for 177 yards with three touchdowns and threw a touchdown pass to Terran Talsma as Avon handed Alcester-Hudson its first loss of the season. Brady Bierema ran for 80 yards with a TD. For Alcester-Hudson, Mateo Kleinhans ran for two touchdowns and had 72 yards on the ground. He had 149 passing yards with a TD throw to Owen Bovill. Avon led 22-6 at halftime. Next: Avon (4-3) hosts Wolsey-Wessington on Oct. 14; Alcester-Hudson (6-1) visits Irene-Wakonda on Oct. 14.

Dakota Valley 47, Lennox 24 -- Jackson Boonstra ran for 111 yards with a touchdown and Ethan Anema threw for 238 yards with a passing and rushing touchdown to lead Dakota Valley. Randy Rosequist also had a rushing TD and returned a punt for a touchdown. Jaxon Hennies had 129 receiving yards with a touchdown. Owen Hanshaw recovered a fumble 1 yard for a touchdown. For Lennox, Braeden Wulf threw three touchdowns and passed for 212 yards. Two of the TDs were to Talan Diercks, who had 138 yards receiving. Dell Rapids 20, Beresford 6 -- Mason Stubbe scored two rushing TDs with 48 yards on the ground for Dell Rapids as the Quarriers maintained their perfect record. Jack Henry threw for 124 yards and ran for 38 with a score. For Beresford, Peyton Fridrich ran for 86 yards with a touchdown. McDermott threw for 47 yards with two TD passes -- one to Jakob Scarmon and another to Kayden Moore. Geary had two interceptions. Iroquois/Lake Preston 20, Colman-Egan 18 (2OT) -- Josh McMasters threw a TD pass to Ryne Greene in the second overtime, and Jake Larson made the two-point conversion as Iroquois/Lake Preston held off Colman-Egan for its first win of the season. The game was tied 6-6 at the end of regulation. Haydon Shurson scored on a 2-yard TD run in the first overtime for Lake Preston, while Larson tied the game in the fourth on a 1-yard run. For Colman-Egan, Jack Mousel threw a TD pass to Ben Zwart for the game's first TD, while Logan Voelker scored a rushing TD in both the first and second OT. Next: C-E (0-7) visits Platte-Geddes.

Madison 21, Canton 14 -- Bruce Galde ran for 129 yards with a touchdown as the Bulldogs held off Canton. Joe Gors added a rushing TD and Ben Brooks passed to Eli Barger. Brooks had 107 passing yards. For Canton, Canaan McCracken ran for 96 yards with a score. Josh Merkle scored on a quarterback keeper. He threw for 94 yards. Next: Madison (2-4) hosts Lennox; Canton (2-4) visits Vermillion.

Mount/Vernon-Plankinton 48, Wagner 24 -- Reed Rus ran for 204 yards with three touchdowns for MVP. Drew Gerlach had two rushing touchdowns, while MVP ran for 411 rushing yards as a team. Chris Nelson, Isaiah Olson and Jhett Breen had rushing TDs for Wagner. Next: Wagner (2-5) visits Tri-Valley on Oct. 14; MVP (7-0) hosts Winner on Oct. 14.

Sioux Falls Christian 35, Milbank 6 -- Tate Snyder threw two touchdown passes with 96 yards in the air for the Chargers. The TD passes were to James Woodward and Carter Van Donge. Garrett Mertens had a TD pass for Milbank. Next: Milbank (0-6) visits Sisseton; SFC (4-2) hosts Beresford.

Sioux Falls Lincoln 37, Rapid City Stevens 34 (OT) -- Lincoln’s Tate Schafer dumped the ball off to Samuel Hindbjoren for a 10-yard touchdown and sealed an overtime victory, according to the Rapid City Journal. Lincoln dominated the first half of the game, and led 31-10 with less than one minute to go in the third quarter, before Stevens surged back behind stellar play in all facets of the game. Schafer completed 25 of 39 passes for 453 yards and five touchdowns for the Patriots and also kicked a 38-yard field goal in the third quarter. His primary target Jack Smith hauled in a whopping 21 catches for 377 yards and four touchdowns.

Sioux Falls Jefferson 42, Sioux Falls O'Gorman 17

Sioux Falls Roosevelt 47, Rapid City Central 18 -- Roosevelt scored three touchdowns on explosive plays longer than 28 yards to defeat Rapid City Central, according to the Rapid City Journal. The Rough Riders finished the contest with 383 yards of total offense, intercepted three passes and forced a fumble to take control of the contest. Jackson Brouwer completed 13 of 16 passes for 223 yards and three touchdowns for Roosevelt. Jaxsen Grevengoed rushed 14 times for 130 yards and four touchdowns and caught two passes for 62 yards and another score.
