South Dakota high school football regular-season scores

Brandon Valley 35, Sioux Falls Washington 33

Sioux Falls Lincoln 42, Aberdeen Central 7 -- The Patriots scored touchdowns on their first seven possessions, and quarterback Tate Schafer showed that he is one of the best in the state. Lincoln finished with 436 total yards, and Schafer completed 17 of 23 passes for 231 yards.

Sioux Falls O'Gorman 24, Harrisburg 20

Madison 1, Custer 0 (forfeit)

Tea Area 39, Watertown 6 -- Tea Area took control on Thursday by scoring 25 unanswered points in the final 15 minutes of the first half. The spurt featured a safety that was followed 12 seconds later by a 71-yard kickoff return by Blake Thompson. Thompson (8 yards) and Slykhuis (1 yard) added TD runs and Chase Van Tol a 35-yard field goal. Van Tol (1 yard) and Thompson (7 yards) added second-half TD runs. Thompson finished with 109 and Van Tol 101 of Tea Area's 224 rushing yards. Jackson Smythe tallied 11 tackles and Matt Halbur six. Watertown scored in the third quarter on a 46-yard run by Juven Hudson, who gained 80 yards on 24 carries. Chase Christianson and Drew Denzer each made eight tackles, Austin Johnson seven and Simon Hendricks five.

West Central 34, Milbank 6 -- Justin Zirpel rushed for 145 yards and three touchdowns (5, 4 and 46 yards) and also passed for 213 yards and two TDs to help second-rated West Central close out an 8-1 regular season. Owen Heath made three catches for 81 yards and two scores (14 and 9 yards). The Trojans also tacked on a safety. Milbank, which ended its season 2-7, scored first on a 78-yard pass from Braylen Bowsher to Sawyer Gauer. Gauer caught seven passes for 137 yards and also had six tackles and two assists on defense. Barrett Schneck had eight solo tackles, one assist and a fumble recovery. Garrett Mertens passed for 135 yards.

Canton 38, Chamberlain 21 -- Josh Merkle threw for 157 yards with one passing TD and two rushing TDs for Canton. Matt Anderson had four catches for 101 yards and a touchdown, while Kale Ask reached the end zone twice and had 59 yards rushing. Cannon McCracken ran for 130 yards.

Yankton 42, Huron 14

Dell Rapids 22, Dakota Valley 18 -- Mason Stubbe ran for 103 yards with one touchdown and Sutton Williams reached the end zone to lead Dell Rapids. Jack Henry threw for 98 yards with a TD pass to Brayden Pankonen. For Dakota Valley, Ethan Anema threw for 242 yards with three touchdowns. Randy Rosequist had 172 receiving yards with two TDs.

No. 8 Deuel 27, No. 9 St. Thomas More 10 -- The Cardinals took the lead on a four-yard run by Trey Maaland midway through the third quarter and got two fourth-quarter TD runs from Quail (two and 12 yards), who finished with 224 yards rushing on 35 attempts. Maaland, who had 51 yards rushing and 51 passing, also scored on a five-yard run in the first half. Deuel compiled 307 yards rushing.

No. 4 Mount Vernon/Plankinton 38, No. 13 Tri-Valley 10

No. 5 McCook Central/Montrose 34, No. 12 Sioux Valley 19 -- McCook Central-Montrose (8-1) outscored Sioux Valley (5-4) 28-6 in the middle two quarters to earn the victory. Boston Katzer completed 14 of 17 passes for 155 yards, teaming with Will Cleveland seven times for 98 yards and two TDs (56 and 30 yards). Jackson Grady also hauled in 33-yard scoring pass. Jackson Remmers contributed 139 yards rushing and a 6-yard TD run. Cleveland also returning a kickoff 79 yards for another score. Carter Randall produced 10 tackles and Mason Sabers and Cleveland eight each for the Fighing Cougars.

No 2. Aberdeen Roncalli 46, No. 15 Mobridge/Pollock 0 -- Roncalli quarterback/kicker Jackson Isakson passed for four touchdowns and connected on field goals of 48 and 42 yards to lead the Roncalli offense.

No. 3 Elk Point-Jefferson 58, No. 14 Rapid City Christian 7 -- Lucas Hueser ran for 102 yards with two touchdowns, and Ben Swatek, Alex Scarmon and Caleb Niles also had rushing TDs. Noah McDermott threw for 126 yards with two TD passes to Hunter Geary and Ben Swatek.

No. 4 Hamlin 41, No. 13 Viborg-Hurley 8 -- Luke Fraser scored four touchdowns and Tyson Stevenson passed for three for the Chargers (8-1). Fraser, who ran 22 times for 222 yards, scored on runs of 35, 46 and 15 yards and also caught a 23-yard scoring pass from Stevenson. Evan Stormo (70 yards) and Dawson Noem (34) each also had TD receptions from Stevenson, who completed nine of 19 passes for 249 yards. Noem caught three passes for 74 yards. Kasen Prouty recorded 10 tackles, Stormo nine and a half, Troy Randall, Jr., seven and Fraser and Mason Trowbridge each six for Hamlin.

No. 5 Hanson 42, No. 12 Platte-Geddes 18

No. 2 Elkton-Lake Benton 32, No. 15 Kimball/White Lake 18 -- The second-seeded Elks remained perfect (9-0) with the win that included another big game from quarterback Ryan Krog. He rushed 28 times for 176 yards and two scores and also passed for 87 yards and a TD to Quinten Poindexter. Riddick Westley contributed 63 yards and a TD. Blake DeVries recorded seven tackles. Poindexter and Garrett Neill each intercepted passes.

No. 7 Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy 36, No. 10 Florence/Henry 14 -- Riley Tschetter's third touchdown pass of the game, a 35-yarder to Evan Scharberg on the final play of the game lifted the Phoenix (7-2) to their second-straight win over the Falcons (4-5). FMFA won 36-14 in the regular-season finale. Tschetter also scored on a 1-yard run and tossed TD passes to Matt Hagen (5 yards) and Maddox Kihne (11 yards). Dominic Sperling added a 7-yard TD run. Tschetter ran 14 times for 84 yards and completed 22 of 37 passes for 268 yards. Hagen caught seven passes for 104 yards and Kihne eight for 81.

No. 3 Howard 48, No. 14 Britton-Hecla 8 -- Taiden Hoyer threw three touchdown passes and Tate Miller scored three rushing TDs for Howard. Hoyer ran for 47 yards, while Griffin Clubb ran for 59 yards. Hoyer threw for 194 yards.

No. 9 Canistota 42, No. 8 Alcester-Hudson 24 -- Tage Ortman ran for 181 yards with three touchdowns to lead Canistota. Cayden Scott added two touchdowns with 75 yards on the ground. Ortman aslo threw a TD pass to Noah Kleinsasser. For A-H, Evan Brown ran for 96 yards with a score and Mateo Kleinhans threw for 141 yards with two TDs -- one to William Hallaway and another to Ethan Bovill.

Kirwan scored on a 41-yard run and a 38-yard pass from Tvedt. Tvedt completed eight of 14 passes for 136 yards. Kirwan rushed for 61 yards and caught two passes for 58. Jackson Schofield made two receptions for 55.

No. 1 Herreid/Selby Area 56, No. 16 Lemmon/McIntosh 6 -- Brenden Begeman ran for touchdown runs of 45, 47 and 54 yards and caught two touchdown passes to lead the Wolverines. But he certainly didn't carry the whole load. Quarterback Tray Hettick passed for five touchdowns. He found Begeman on scoring strikes of 59 and 26 yards and Trevor Gill on touchdown passes of 24 and 41 yards. His other TD pass was 19 yards to Darion Barker.

Kadyn Fast added 64 yards rushing and two TDs and Trace Van Regenmorter caught four passes for 85 yards and a TD. Dylan Zell led the defensive effort with two quarterback sacks out of 17 tackles. Van Regenmorter and Dylan Rowliffe each added six tackles.
