Class 11AA

No. 1 Pierre 59, No. 4 Yankton 31

No. 2 Tea Area 44, No. 3 Aberdeen Central 7 -- Tea Area scored three touchdowns in the first quarter to build a lead and cruise to a semifinal win. Blake Thompson got Tea off to a strong start on a 64-yard touchdown carry less than two minutes into the game. Later in the first quarter, it was Chase Van Tol scoring from 55 yards out. That drive was just two plays. Then, on the last play of the first quarter, Thompson found the end zone again to make it 19-0 and the task was tall for the Golden Eagles. Tea's powerful backfield was the story of the night. The Titans finished with 413 net rushing yards compared to Central's 31. Thompson rushed for 15 times for 210 yards and three touchdowns. Van Tol added 170 yards on 19 carries and had three scores.

No. 3 Elk Point-Jefferson 47, No. 7 Hot Springs 14 -- Noah McDermott had 226 passing yards with two touchdowns as EPJ advanced to the state championship game. Devon Schmitz had three catches for 115 yards and a TD. The Huskies added four rushing TDs -- two from Lucas Hueser and one apiece from Ben Swatek and Hunter Geary. Preston Iverson threw for 45 yards and ran for 75 yards for Hot Springs.

Championship -- No. 1 Winner vs. No. 3 Elk Point-Jefferson, 2:30 p.m. Friday

Class 9AA

No. 1 Wall 26, No. 4 Hamlin 13 -- Top-seeded Wall pulled away down the stretch to defeat fourth-seeded Hamlin 26-13 Friday night in the semifinals of the state Class 9AA football playoffs. The host Eagles (11-0) used a 6-yard touchdown run by Burk Blasius and a 24-yard field goal by Blair Blasius to build a 10-0 halftime lead over the Chargers (9-2). Hamlin got on the board with a 70-yard scoring strike from Tyson Stevenson to Evan Stormo with 5:35 remaining in the third quarter, before Wall took over. The Eagles regained the lead on a 13-yard TD run by Cedar Amiotte a couple of minutes later and a 39-yard scoring dash by Amiotte with 2:18 left in the period. Another Blair Blasius field goal, this one from 30 yards out, pushed the lead to 26-7 late in the fourth quarter.

No. 6 Parkston 36, No. 2 Elkton-Lake Benton 8 -- Kolten Kramer rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns to spark Parkston (10-1) to the win. Kaleb Weber, Sam Benson and Luke Bormann each added TD runs for the Trojans, who rushed for nearly 300 yards. Ryan Krog tossed a 19-yard TD pass to Tanner Stein for the Elks (10-1). Krog passed for 65 yards and rushed for 49. Colt Beck made two catches for 44 yards.

No. 1 Herreid/Selby Area 62, No. 12 Irene-Wakonda 30

No. 2 Hitchcock-Tulare 48, No. 6 De Smet 20 -- Carter Binger ran for three touchdowns and passed for two others to lead the second-seeded Patriots (11-0) to the semifinal win over sixth-seeded De Smet (7-4). Binger scored on runs of 14, 79 and 5 yards and teamed with Cole Schroeder (40 yards) and Landon Puffer (30 yards) on scoring passes. Unofficially, he ran six times for 114 yards and completed nine of 13 passes for 209 yards. Riley Fliehe (55 yards) and Erik Salmen (1 yard) added TD runs for Hitchcock-Tulare, which will face top-seeded Herreid-Selby Area (11-0) in the state championship game at 11 a.m. Thursday in the DakotaDome. Mason Bottum intercepted two passes for the Patriots.

All Nations finals

Todd County 72, Red Cloud 26 -- Sayge Yellow Eagle ran for 158 yards and four touchdowns to help Todd County close out an 11-0 season by winning the All-Nations Conference A Division championship Friday in the DakotaDome. Red Cloud (9-2) led 12-8 after one quarter before Todd County took over. Ty Valandra added 110 yards rushing and two TDs and Ray Crow and Rocky Wiedman each added 1-yard TD runs for the Falcons. Stryder Yellow Eagle returned a fumble 31 yards for a score and Stephan Guerue added an interception return for another score. Stacy Eagle Bear-Poignee added a safety.

Lower Brule 46, Tiospa Zina 0 -- Tiospa Zina's bid for third-consecutive All-Nations Conference title ended with a loss to top-seeded Lower Brule (11-0) on Friday night in the DakotaDome. Tiospa Zina won the first All-Nations Conference title in the spring of 2021 and then won the B Division championship in the fall of 2021. Gavin Thigh scored on 3-yard run and tossed TD passes to Brian LaRoche Jr. (64 yards), Marley Carpenter (1 yard) and Nate Middletent (6 yards) for the Sioux. Nunpa Kirkie (3 yards) and Middletent (1 yard) added TD runs.
