South Dakota State men outlast Prairie View A&M

South Dakota State won a shootout with Prairie View A&M on Tuesday at Frost Arena, outlasting the Panthers 99-90 in non-conference action.

Noah Freidel had 21 points to lead six Jackrabbits in double figures, as SDSU improved to 7-2 while dropping winless PVAMU to 0-8.

The Jacks led by as much as 23 but did not finish particularly strong, as the Panthers used a 14-2 run late to cut the lead to eight with under a minute to go, and were within seven with 20 seconds left.

Freidel reached the 20-point plateau for the fourth consecutive game, hitting five 3-pointers to add to his nation-leading total.

Doug Wilson had 15 points and eight rebounds, Baylor Scheierman had 13 points and eight rebounds, and freshman Zeke Mayo registered a career-high 14 points. Alex Arians added 12 points and six assists and Charlie Easley had 12 points off the bench.

William Douglas had 24 points to lead the Panthers, going 6-of-8 from the floor, 3-for-4 from deep and 9-of-10 at the line. PVAMU shot 52 percent from the floor in the game and went 21-for-24 at the stripe.

The Jacks are next in action Friday when they host Minnesota-Morris.
