South Florida, what are you grateful for this Thanksgiving? Share your thoughts with us

Thanksgiving in America is arguably all about food and family — and football (depending on whom you ask). But, hearkening back to elementary school days, it’s also a time to reflect and appreciate the good things. The old tradition of going around the dinner table to say aloud what we’re thankful for might sound cheesy, but this year, we think it’s a much-needed activity.

If the year 2020 taught us anything, it’s that we’re thankful to be out of it. We’re grateful to be able to focus now on rebuilding a better future. And in South Florida, we’ve been through a lot since last Thanksgiving. Protests calling for an end to Cuba’s communist regime; the devastating earthquake in Haiti and the assassination of Haiti’s president; the unimaginable loss of life in Surfside. And COVID just won’t go away.

As journalists, we know how easy it can be to fixate on the negative news and the chaos that surrounds the sunshine state. But we also know it’s important to step back, pause and reflect on the things we appreciate. The Miami Herald appreciates the readers, subscribers and supporters who believe in the work we do.

But we want to know what YOU’RE thankful for this Thanksgiving. Share with us what you are grateful for in the form below and you might be featured in a special Thanksgiving story.
