Eagle Festival 2022 offers live and virtual options

Eagle Festival 2022, hosted by CU Maurice River and other organizations, will offer virtual talks and in person activities this year.

The following talks will be held via Zoom:

• Wings Over the Glades with Debbie Beer, director of volunteer engagement, Natural Lands, 6:30 p.m. Feb. 3.

• DEP’s Pond Creek Restoration Project, Higbee Beach, Lower Cape May, with Melissa Woerner, habitat planner, New Jersey Fish and Wildlife, 7:30 p.m. Feb. 3.

• The Cape May Raptor Banding Project, with Paul Napier, president, Cape May Raptor Banding Project, 6:30 p.m. Feb. 5.

In person activities planned for Feb. 5 will feature viewing stations with interpreters at Turkey Point, road’s end, and Beaver Dam Boat Rentals, Route 553.

There will also be a variety of guided walks including:

• Turkey Point Birding Walk with Mary Watkins, Cape May Bird Observatory/ CU Maurice River, 8 a.m. Feb. 5.

• Marsh Restoration and Wildlife with Jane Morton Galetto, CU Maurice River, 9:30 a.m. Feb. 5.

• Raptors and more with Tony Klock and Kathy Michel, CU Maurice River/ Bayshore Center at Bivalve, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Feb. 5.

• Natural Lands’ Garrison Property with Brian Johnson of Natural Lands, 10 a.m. Feb. 5.

• Natural Lands’ Eagle Trail with Steve Eisenhauer of Natural Lands, 1 p.m. Feb. 5.

Plus, the Bayshore Center at Bivalve will host Soup-er Fest from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Visitors are invited to enjoy soup (eat in or take out), activities for kids, a tour of the museum and shopping with local vendors. The center is at 2800 High St., in Port Norris.

Sports Card & Collectibles show planned in Bordentown

RK Sports Promotions will host a Sports Card & Collectibles Show from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Town Inn.

The show will feature more than 40 tables with old and new sports cards, comic books, starting line-ups, MacFarlane figures, non-sports cards, Magic The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh, supplies, unopened wax packs and boxes, autographed memorabilia, sets, posters and more.

Forgotten Boardwalk Brewing Company hosts ‘The Spice of Life’

Forgotten Boardwalk Brewing Company will host “The Spice of Life,” its annual charity event to raise awareness of the benefits of organ donation, from 1 to 10 p.m. Feb. 5.

The event is held to commemorate the donation by Forgotten Boardwalk’s Seth Dolled’s living kidney to his mother, Sharon.

In addition to the once-a-year availability of Lady #8 and the release of a new beer, “The Johnny,” the event will feature a multi-vendor showcase presented in partnership with Asbury Park Punk Rock Flea Market, which will include vinyl records, concert photos, band-related T-shirts and more.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the National Kidney Foundation and the Gift of Life Donor Program. Representatives of these organizations will be on site to help anyone who wants to register as an organ donor.

WinterFest Ice Skating season extended

WinterFest Ice Skating at Cooper River Park, presented by the Camden County Board of Commissioners, has extended its season through Feb. 27.

WinterFest also offers a heated concession tent with arcade games and dining areas.

Hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Thursdays, 5 to 10 p.m. Fridays, noon to 10 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 9 p.m. Sundays.

Tickets are $8.50 for ages 12 to 65, $6.50 for ages 4 to 11, $5.50 for 65 and older and veterans with identification, and free for age 3 and younger.

Nickerson-Rossi Dance performs at Stockton Performing Arts Center

GALLOWAY - The Nickerson-Rossi Dance company, recipient of the 2021 Stockton Dance Company Residency, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 4 at the Stockton Performing Arts Center.

The bi-coastal contemporary dance company, founded by Michael Nickerson-Rossi, integrates complex choreography with soulful performances by a talented ensemble of dancers.

Nickerson-Rossi teaches choreography and composition at John Hopkins University’s Peabody Conservatory, directs at his Palm Springs Dance Academy and continues to present concert dance works in theaters worldwide.

Edelman Planetarium presents ‘Laser Queen’

Edelman Planetarium’s laser light shows combine music from favorite bands with stunning and immersive laser imagery.

“Laser Queen” was inspired by Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, Queen, and combines their hit songs including “We Will Rock You,” “Another One Bites the Dust,” “Somebody to Love” and more, with intense laser programming.

Show times are 7 p.m. Fridays through March 25.

Tickets are $5 for adults and non-Rowan students; and $3 for ages 60 and older, children age 16 and younger and Rowan students with identification.

Roller skating fun continues at Cape May Convention Hall

Roller skating sessions continue this month at Cape May Convention Hall.

The schedule for February is 4 to 6 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Fridays; and 1 to 3 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m Saturdays and Sundays and Feb. 21, except no skating on Feb. 19 and 20. All sessions are “family skate.” The schedule is subject to change.

Admission is $5 for skaters and non-skaters. Skate rental is $5 and blade rental is $7.

Children age 17 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. No more than four minors per adult.
