Wheaton Arts & Cultural Center, in partnership with The Authority of Cumberland County, CU Maurice River and Rutgers Master Gardeners, will host ECO Fair: Awakening of Mother Earth from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 7.

ECO Fair, a campus-wide event, features local gardening clubs, including Rutgers Master Gardeners with various plants and herbs for sale, handmade works of New Jersey artists, environmental organizations, Nature Trail tours, eco-friendly activities for families and more.

This year the festival incorporates the human/nature relationships as interpreted in the cultures of the Central and South American communities in the area. This “Awakening of Mother Earth” festival symbolizes a new season that brings new expectations, hopes and celebrations that reconnect us with Mother Earth through ritual, art, music and dance.

Visit South Jersey and Camden County will present the third annual Down & Derby Wine Festival, for ages 21 and older only, from 2 to 7:30 p.m. May 7 on Veterans Island at Cooper River Park.

Guests are invited to sample delicious wines from South Jersey’s leading wine producers while immersing themselves in Derby-themed fashion and festivities.

Amalthea Cellars, Auburn Road Vineyards, Cedar Rose Vineyards, Salem Oak Winery, Sharrott Winery, Tomasello Winery, Valenzano Winery, Villari Vineyards, Wagonhouse Winery and White Horse Winery are among the wineries scheduled to participate.

Paint the Town Pink Car Show planned in Cinnaminson

The second annual Paint the Town Pink Car Show, supporting the Cinnaminson Fire Department’s Paint the Town Pink Fundraising Campaign, will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 7 at the Mainline Shopping Center.

It will feature music, food, a 50/50 raffle and a display of cars, trucks, motorcycles and firetrucks. The show is open to all years, makes and models.

More than 60 trophies will be awarded.

Registration is $15 in advance or $20 on the day of the show.

Summerfest opens in Philadelphia

With a view of the Delaware River and the Ben Franklin Bridge, the Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest offers a great way to get outside and enjoy a “summer” day.

Summerfest, presented by the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation, opens for the season at 5 p.m. May 6.

Visitors are invited to enjoy activities including roller skating, boardwalk games, rides including a ferris wheel and a carousel, and mini-golf.

If you get hungry during your visit, Chickie’s & Pete’s offers crabfries, cheesesteaks and more along with summer cocktails and local brews.

Plus, Skelly’s Amusements offers seasonal favorites such as funnel cake, ice cream, lemonade and cotton candy.

General admission to the site is free, but fees are charged for various activities.

Skating admission is $5. Timed tickets are required. Skate rental is $10 and locker rentals are available for $1.

Edelman Planetarium presents ‘Laser Zeppelin’

Edelman Planetarium’s laser light shows combine music from favorite bands with stunning and immersive laser imagery.

“Laser Zeppelin” will pair Led Zeppelin songs including “Stairway to Heaven,” “In the Evening,” “Ramble On,” “Black Dog” and more with intense laser programming.

Show times are 7 p.m. Fridays through June 24.

Washington Township celebrates the return of Super Saturday

Washington Township will celebrate the return of Super Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 7 at Washington Lake Park. The rain date is May 14.

The event will feature vendors, giveaways, food trucks, face painting, fire truck and ambulance displays, pony rides, inflatables, petting zoo and more.

There will also be performances by the Washington Township Band, the Minutemen Marching Band at noon, and the Sass Band from 12:30 to 4 p.m.

RCSJ bands to present spring concert

The Rowan College of South Jersey-Cumberland Campus Bands will present their annual Spring Campus Concert at 7:30 p.m. May 4 in the college’s Frank Guaracini Jr. Fine and Performing Arts Center.

The concert will feature a wide representation of band literature, Celebrating America, presented by the Jazz Band and Wind Symphony, along with a Dixieland Band, Vegas Lounge Quintet, and select vocalists.

The Cumberland Campus Bands are engaged in their 39th performance season with Joseph Akinskas, founding director and music professor.

Tour highlights first Naval action of the Revolution on the Delaware River

The Friends of Hancock House will conduct a free, caravan-style tour from Greenwich to Penns Grove on May 7, rain or shine, covering sites associated with the first Naval action of the Revolution on the Delaware River.

Participants will meet at 11 a.m. at the Greenwich Tea Burning Monument at the corner of Ye Greate Street and Market Lane in Greenwich.

This tour will focus on the May 1776 appearance of the British ships, the Roebuck and the Liverpool, in the Delaware Bay/River and the two-day battle that followed. The first naval battle on the Delaware during the Revolution! And it happened off the coast of Salem County!

Guests may wish to bring a lawn chair for tour stops.

Visit Cape May for the Coast Guard Community Festival

Cape May County Coast Guard Community Foundation will host the Cape May County Coast Guard Community Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 7

The event features Coast Guard ship tours, a helicopter display, live search and rescue demonstrations, face painting, games, bounce houses, music, entertainment, food and other vendors, beer garden and more.

Admission is free.

The festival generates funds for the USCG Training Center Cape May’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation branch, which provides leisure programs and services to improve the quality of life of service members and their families.

Reclaim Our Freedom 2: Jeep Rally planned at Kathedral

The Reclaim Our Freedom 2: Jeep Rally, hosted by the Pine Barren Venom Jeep Club and presented by High End Car Stereo & Performance, will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 7 at Kathedral Event Center.

The rally will offer a day of peaceful, positive energy to support local law enforcement officers.

Portions of the show proceeds will benefit the Josh Vadell Foundation for families of fallen and injured officers and the Burlington County K9 Search and Rescue.
