South Plains high school football top performers: Week 9

Here's a look at the best individual performances from high school football games this week involving teams from the South Plains.

Luke Martinez, Lamesa

Martinez ran for 155 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries in a win over Slaton. He also had two catches for 54 yards and two more scores. On defense, Martinez notched an interception and three tackles (two solo).

Cannon Reed, Shallowater

Reed finished with 33 carries for 188 yards and five TDs in a win over Bushland.

Bax Townsend, Lubbock Christian

Townsend ran for 220 yards and four TDs on 26 carries in a win over Dallas First Baptist. He also completed 12 of 22 passes for 185 yards, two TDs and two interceptions. On defense, Townsend had nine tackles (three solo), including one for a loss.

Corey Stancell, Farwell

Stancell tallied 201 yards and four TDs on 16 carries in a win over Amarillo Highland Park. He also made six tackles (four solo) and had an interception.

William Wall, Idalou

On 10 carries, Wall went for 181 yards and three TDs in a win over Roosevelt.

Andres Mendoza, Floydada

Mendoza ran for 141 yards and four TDs on 17 carries in a win over Tahoka.

Marcus Ramon-Edwards, Trinity Christian

Ramon-Edwards had 21 carries for 188 yards and three TDs, adding two catches for 18 yards in a win over Arlington Grace Prep.

J.J. Martinez, Brownfield

Martinez was 17-of-22 passing for 257 yards, four TDs and an interception in a win over Kermit.

Caleb Cook, New Home

Cook was 14-of-21 passing for 237 yards and three touchdowns in the victory against Plains.

Alec Actkinson, Farwell

Actkinson ran for 232 yards and two TDs on seven carries, an average of 33.1 yards per rush.

Eli Reeves, Trinity Christian

Reeves totaled 133 yards and three TDs on 18 carries.

Preston Moore, Smyer

Moore ran for a game-high 138 yards and two TDs in a win over Morton.

Mathias Zavala, Ralls

Zavala scored three TDs on 106 rushing yards in a win over Lockney.

Jackson Raines, New Home

Raines needed just two catches to score two touchdowns, totaling 86 yards.

Keeton Bolton, Lamesa

Bolton led the team with 161 yards and a score on 13 carries.

Jackson Austin, Lubbock-Cooper

Austin rushed 10 times for 110 yards and two TDs in a win over Monterey.

Zaiah Riojas, Ralls

Riojas ran for a game-high 149 yards and a TD on 15 carries.

Uriel Vasquez, Muleshoe

Vasquez tallied 11 tackles (nine solo), including three for a loss in a win over Amarillo River Road. He added a sack and a fumble recovery.

Marco Guillen, Levelland

Guillen rushed 15 times for 113 yards and two TDs, adding a 15-yard catch in a win over Borger.

Quavience Busby, Brownfield

Busby caught seven passes for 130 yards and a score.

Cameron Gutierrez, Smyer

Gutierrez intercepted two passes to go with four tackles (two solo).

Trevor Winn, Shallowater

Winn caught three passes for a team-high 144 yards.

Josue Cervera, Sudan

Cervera led the team with 109 rushing yards and two TDs in a win over Crosbyton. He also made nine tackles (three solo), including three for a loss.

Justin Zavala, Ralls

Zavala ran for 136 yards and a TD on 14 carries.

Logan Addison, New Home

Addison found the end zone twice on seven carries, finishing with 72 yards.

Kaydyn Moore, Brownfield

Moore had five catches for 81 yards and two TDs.

Tyler Jack, Idalou

Jack finished with a team-high 11 tackles (eight solo) and ran for 49 yards on five carries.

Kaleb Harrell, Abernathy

Harrell led the team with 121 yards and a TD on 18 carries in a win over Littlefield. He was 5-of-12 passing for 50 yards and an interception.

Sebastian Kirven, Muleshoe

Kirven was 10-of-12 passing for 186 yards and two TDs. He also ran for 37 yards on 12 carries.

Will Hawley, Lubbock Christian

Hawley had a team-high 10 tackles (two solo), including one for a loss. He added a sack and a fumble recovery.

Davian McMullen, Muleshoe

McMullen made 18 tackles (seven solo), including two for a loss.

Ethan Brown, New Deal

Brown made six catches for 118 yards and a TD in a win over Olton. He also had an interception on defense.

Evan Haseloff, Shallowater

Haseloff had four catches for 106 yards and a TD.

Tomas Geronimo, Slaton

Geronimo tallied 106 yards and a TD in a loss to Lamesa.

Jacob Marquez, Olton

Marquez notched 18 tackles (13 solo), including one for a loss, against New Deal.

Karomo Collins, Plainview

Collins made 12 catches for 120 yards and ran for 33 yards in a loss to Abilene Cooper.

Mason Jones, Littlefield

Jones led the Wildcats in rushing (94) and receiving (37) yards in a loss to Abernathy.
