WOLFFORTH — Daiysha Brown came up with a steal and a go-ahead basket with 19 seconds left in the second overtime, lifting South Plains College over McLennan Community College 69-67 Friday night in the semifinals of the NJCAA Region V tournament at Frenship.

Brown stole the ball from Saneea Bevley and drove the length of the court for what turned out to be the game winner.

McLennan guard Miannah Little's 3-point attempt from the corner fell short as time expired.

South Plains (20-9) will play New Mexico Junior College (24-5) at 4:30 p.m. Saturday for the regional title and an automatic berth in the NJCAA Tournament. McLennan (27-4) had won 12 of its previous 13 games.

Bevley made a 3 from the top of the key to give McLennan a 67-64 lead in the second overtime, and Matilda Soderlund answered with a tying 3 for South Plains with less than a minute to play.

The Lady Texans got 20 points and nine rebounds from Celia Sumbane, 16 points apiece from Vitoria Carvalho and Brown and 10 rebounds each from Martyna Czescik and Jennifer Silva.

Little and Bevley led the Highlassies with 27 and 19 points, respectively.
