SAN ANGELO — Grace Foster scored 29 points and No. 7 seed Lubbock Christian University knocked off No. 2 seed Texas Woman's 62-55 Friday in the first round of the Division II NCAA Tournament at the Junell Center.

Maci Maddox added 16 points and Audrey Robertson eight as LCU beat Texas Woman's for the first time in three meetings this season. Six days before, TWU beat LCU 84-49 in the Lone Star Conference tournament, the Lady Chaps' most lopsided loss since 2010.

LCU will play No. 6 seed Black Hills State in the South Central Region semifinals at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Texas Woman's (26-6) was ranked No. 10 and No. 19 in the two major D-II polls.

Ngozi Obineke scored 14 points for the Pioneers, and Ashley Ingram added 11. The Pioneers shot 1 of 10 from 3-point range after setting a Lone Star Conference tournament single-game record by making 72.2 percent (13 of 18) in Saturday's game.

LCU men's basketball

Lubbock Christian University begins play in the Division II NCAA Tournament on Saturday when the No. 7 seed Chaparrals take on No. 2 seed Fort Lewis in the first round of the South Central Regional at the First United Bank Center in Canyon.

LCU (19-11) and Fort Lewis (28-3) tip off at 2:30 p.m.

Fort Lewis, located in Durango, Colorado, won the regular-season and tournament championships of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

LCU forwards Rowan Mackenzie and Russell Harrison are the Lone Star Conference's second- and seventh-leading scorers with averages of 19.7 and 16.2 points per game, respectively.

Fort Lewis guard Akuel Kot, a 6-foot-2 junior from Amarillo Palo Duro, is averaging 24.4 points per game. Also averaging in double digits are 6-1 senior JaQuaylon Mays (11.4 ppg), 6-9 senior Brenden Boatwright (10.8 ppg) and 6-3 sophomore Obi Agbim (10.3 ppg).

WOLFFORTH — Jennifer Silva and Celia Sumbane both had double-doubles, leading South Plains College to a 59-50 victory against Hill College in the last of four first-round games Thursday in the women's NJCAA Region V tournament at Frenship.

Silva scored 18 points, Sumbane 14 and both grabbed 10 rebounds. Daiysha Brown was good for 16 points and seven rebounds.

South Plains (19-9) will face McLennan Community College (27-3) at 7 p.m. Friday in the semifinals. The Lady Texans are the champion and No. 1 seed from the Western Junior College Athletic Conference. McLennan is the runner-up and No. 2 seed from the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference.

Alyssa Berry scored 17 points for Hill, which ended the season 18-13.
