Jun. 7—LIMA — Two men are dead following shootings early Monday morning on Lima's South Union Street.
The incidents resulted in the first gun-related homicides of 2021 in Lima.
According to information provided by the Lima Police Department, at approximately 5:15 a.m. Monday officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1200 block of South Union Street in reference to a shooting. Upon their arrival they found Tavares Clay, 37, of Lima, who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Clay was transported to Mercy Health-St. Rita's Medical Center, where he died after being taken into surgery.
Before he was transported to the hospital, Clay reportedly told police he was shot inside his residence at 1208 S. Union St. He told officers that George Pritchett, 24, and Eddie Pritchett, 25, both of Lima, were shooting at each other inside a residence just a few doors down the street from his home.
At about the same time as Clay was being transported to the hospital a call came in to the LPD stating that George Pritchett had arrived at a residence in the 400 block of East Fourth Street suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers responded to that location and Pritchett was transported to Memorial Health System, where he was taken into surgery for his injuries.
Officers subsequently checked the 1208 S. Union St. location for more victims and found the lifeless body of Eddie Pritchett inside on the floor.
The bodies of Clay and Eddie Pritchett's were sent to the Lucas County Coroner's office, where autopsies were to be performed.
The incident remains under investigation. No suspects have as yet been identified.
