South Whidbey Parks warns of aggressive owl

An aggressive and territorial owl has officials warning visitors of South Whidbey’s Castle Park to avoid the area, according to a media release from the South Whidbey Parks & Recreation District.

Officials said visitors should avoid areas north and east of the ball fields, but they assume the bird will range outside those areas.

Visitors are suggested to stay on trails, use an umbrella, cover their heads, wear protective eyewear and protect their pets.

Although precautions can be taken, officials said the best thing to do is just avoid the area.

If you have interacted with an owl at a South Whidbey park, message the parks department at swparks@swparks.org or call 360-221-5484 and let them know where and when it happened.

Officials also asked that people don’t come to the park to find the owls and to let them nest peacefully.
