SouthCoast in Action: Highlights from Whaling City Youth Baseball from July 25-28

Here's a look at recent action from Whaling City Youth Baseball:

Tuesday, July 25

DeBross Oil 3, South Coast Towing 0: Landen Evangelho struck out 11 and scattered three South Coast hits in a battle of perennial playoff teams. Kolin DaSilva also was outstanding on the mound for South Coast during his three innings of work. Evangelho had the game-winning hit for the Oilers, driving in Jaiden Hebert, who had tripled earlier in the third inning. Reed LaPlante, Max Mutnansky and Austin Rodrigues all had key hits for the Oilers. Drew Alfaiate and Owen Tweedie each continued their steady play for South Coast.

Dave’s 10, Tremblay Bus 6: Chayse Mello and Nathan Cook combined to limit the Bus Company to just three hits. Emanuel Martinez had two of the Tremblay hits scoring once and driving in a run. Chayse Mello hit a home run, Richie Gaskins and Cook each drove in runs to help lead Dave’s to another win as they remain in hot pursuit of LeBeau’s and McCann & Son’s.

Ben Clough of McCann & Son's hustles to beat TS Sports pitcher Donovan Libby to the plate as Clough was attempting score on a passed ball. Libby received the ball and got the tag down tagging Clough out during the first inning of their game on Wednesday evening.

Wonder Bowl 7, Palace Pizza 3: Cole Devlin stepped to the plate to lead the game off and promptly drove a ball over the left field fence for a early Wonder Bowl lead. Devlin was equally effective on the bump for Team Wonder Bowl striking out 11 Palace hitters while picking up the win. Matteo Pacheco had a fine game for the Pizza Crew ripping three hits and scoring twice. Tanner Cabral, Landon Jadlowe and Jeremiah Serrano all contributed offensively for Wonder Bowl.

McCann & Son’s 13, Kitchens & Baths 1: Aiden Gracie drove in Noah Jupin, who had previously tripled for K&B, it would be the lone run that K&B would score as the Paint Crew pitching duo of Akiiraley Vazquez and Nick Frias was tough to deal with, limiting K&B to just two hits in picking up the win. Quentin Frias, Nick Frias and Vazquez each had multiple hits for McCann & Son’s.

LeBeau’s 14, Table 8 Restaurant 2: Ben Viera had three hits, Kyle Soares launched a home run and Niko Cunha drove in two runs as LeBeau’s remains red hot chalking up another win. Soares was tough to deal with striking out eight over his three innings of work. Landon Cabral and Tae Rose each had hits for Table 8.

Nick Frias of McCann & Son's is safe on a successful steal of third base just beating the tag of TS Sports third baseman Yaniel Fernandes. McCann & Son's would go on to win the game on Wednesday evening at Whaling City Youth Baseball.

Wednesday, July 27

Palace Pizza 11, Amaral’s Linguica 6: Matteo Pacheco pitched a complete game for Palace and was credited with the win. Pacheco also tripled twice and scored four times. Landon Florent and Thomas Mahar each had two hits as well as Palace earned a hard fought win. Ben Bernardo, Aiden Arunsi and Jack Fleurent all had fine games for Amaral’s.

LeBeau’s 18, N. B. Fire 1: Kyle Soares hit two home runs, Ben Viera, Lucas Greene and Kayden Souto all had multiple hits as the LeBeau’s juggernaut continues to roll. Viera scored four times, Lucas Souza scored twice as well. Brayden Monaghan stroked a fourth inning RBI double for N.B. Fire.

McCann & Son’s 14, T.S. Sports 2: Quentin and Nick Frias were a tough combo on Wednesday evening limiting TS Sports to just three hits in the game. Quentin Frias hit a home run, Nick Frias scored three times, while Ben Clough and Akiilarry Vazquez each had two hits each for McCann & Son’s. Jacob Antonio, Donovan Libby and Aiden DaSilva each had hits for T.S. Sports.

South Coast Towing 14, Wonder Bowl 2: Kolin DaSilva ripped three extra base hits including a home run. Jose Martinez had three hits, Avery Viera stroked a two-run double and Cam Messier and Dominic Baptiste each had a hit to help lead the Tow Company past Team Wonder Bowl. Jeremiah Serrano hit a two run home run for Wonder Bowl.

Austin Rodrigues of DeBross Oil is tagged out at home on a diving tag by Jose Martinez of South Coast Towing. Rodrigues was attempting to score on a delayed steal. Umpire Anthony Poente makes the call on the play.

Thursday, July 28

T.S. Sports 2, DeBross Oil 1: In a late season battle of playoff teams, T.S. Sports rode the left are of Jacob Antonio to a 2-1 victory. Antonio struck out 13 DeBross hitters and didn’t allow a hit. The Oilers starter Reed LaPlante was also outstanding, he went the distance striking out 11 and limiting TS Sports to just four hits. The difference maker however was Antonio who reached base twice and scored each time accounting for the margin of victory.

Kitchens & Baths 15, Tremblay Bus 1: Don Lopes Jr. picked up the win for K&B, Lopes tossed a complete-game no-hitter. Myles Sequeria, Noah Jupin and Cayden Boardman all had hits for K & B.

A.C.G. 20, Table 8 Restaurant 14: Ryan Maclean, Ty Ross Colton Almeida and Owen Rene led the offense for ACG. Rene scored four times, Ross and Almeida scored three times, in a game that the final score resembled a football game more than a baseball game. Alex Garcia, Carter Bolahrino and Landon Cabral all had hits for Table 8. Ty Ross picked up the win for ACG.

Daves 16,  Amaral’s Linguica 2: Chayse Mello ripped a home run and scored four times to help lead his squad to another win. Joel Vasquez pitched a complete game picking up the win. Richie Gaskins, Nathan Cook, and Vasquez also had key hits for Daves. Aviana Pacheco and Ben Valente had the lone hits for Amaral’s.
