SouthCoast In Action: Scores and highlights from Whaling City Youth Baseball

Here's a look at the scores from Whaling City Youth Baseball from the week beginning May 9.


Monday, May 9

McCann & Son’s 18, Tremblay Bus 1: Nick Frias, Dakota Gamage and Ethan Dube combined to silence the Tremblay bats, allowing just one hit a single off the bat of Tremblay’s Isaac Teixeira . Meanwhile The Paint Crew rapped out eighteen hits led by Jack Anderson’s four, Quentin Frias’s three, Nick Frias and Ethan Dube also had three hit each as well, and Cayson Stupalski chipped in with his first career hit for The Paint Crew.

Southcoast Towing 9, Palace Pizza 1: Drew Alfaiate started on the mound for Southcoast and was very effective, he struck out seven and allowed two hits before giving way to Owen Tweedie. Tweedie struck out seven as well and gave up one hit as The Tow Company recorded their second win on the young season. Alfaiate had two hits including an inside the park home run, Kolin DaSilva knocked in five RBIs to help lead his team to the win. Matteo Pacheco and Landon Florent accounted for the Palace offense, Pacheco with a home run and Florent with two hits.

Tuesday, May 10

Table 8 Restaurant 14, N.B. Fire 0: Niko Tripp got the start for Table 8 and responded with a complete game effort striking out eleven and not allowing a hit as Table 8 picked up their first win of the season. Tripp helped his own cause at the plate rapping out two hits and knocking in three RBI’s. Jack Chamberlain and Nariah Tripp each chipped in at the plate for Table 8 as well.

T.S. Sports 4, Kitchens & Baths 2: Jacob Antonio was the winning pitcher for T.S. Sports. Antonio went the distance on the hill striking out twelve  in helping his squad to remain perfect on the season. Don Lopes Jr and Evan Souza pitched well for K & B but came out on the short end of the decision. Jackson Libby had two hits and Donovan Libby had two hits including an inside the park home run for T.S. Sports. Lopes Jr and Souza each had two hits for Kitchens & Baths.

DeBross Oil  13, A.C.G.  5: Landon Evangelho hit a three-run home run in the first inning knocking in Max Mutnansky and Reed LaPlante who had reached base before him, this staked the Oilers to an early lead that they would never relinquish. Evangelho also stroked a triple, Parker Pacheco checked in with two hits and two RBI for the Oilers. Ryan Mclean, Ty Ross, and Owen Rene had fine performances for A.C.G. But the story of the game was Gavin Pacheco on the hill for DeBross. Pacheco struck out ten and scattered five hits while allowing one earned run in picking up the win for DeBross.

Wednesday May 11

DeBross Oil 4  Wonder Bowl 0: Landen Evangelho was the winning pitcher for the Oilers striking out sixteen and scattering three hits while his opponent Cole Devlin was equally effective going the distance allowing only three hits and striking out eighteen DeBross hitters. Reed LaPlante doubled and scored twice. Gavin Pacheco doubled, and Austin Rodrigues scored the game winner in the bottom of the seventh inning on a defensive miscue to keep DeBross undefeated on the season. Cole Devlin also had two hits for Wonder Bowl.

Southcoast Towing 13, N.B. Fire  0: Owen Tweedie and Jose Martinez Jr each had four hits, Kolin DaSilva had three hits  and Drew Alfaiate doubled and scored three times as The Tow Company put another game in the win column. Martinez Jr and DaSilva combined on the mound for Southcoast. Rylan Kelley and Brayden Monaghan each had hits for New Bedford Fire.

LeBeau’s 4, Tremblay Bus 0: Kyle Soares tossed a complete game one hitter striking out sixteen along the way, Soares also added two hits and an RBI to support his cause. Ben Viera, Lucas Souza, and Lucas Greene also checked in with the bats to help keep LeBeau’s among the ranks of the undefeated. Can Riccio pitched well in defeat going the distance while striking out thirteen LeBeau’s hitters for Tremblay Bus.

Thursday, May 12

Daves 14, Table 8 Restaurant 0: Joel Vasquez was the winning pitcher for Daves on a night that he also ripped his first career home run. Maddyn Duarte, Chayse Mello, Nathan Cook and Richie Gaskins all joined in on the hit parade as Daves captured yet another win. Niko Tripp had the lone hit for Table 8.

McCann & Son’s 13, Wonder Bowl 1: Akiiraley Vazquez, Jack Anderson and Ben Clough combined on the mound to limit Wonder Bowl to just one hit. That hit was a first inning RBI triple off the bat of Cole Devlin that would stake the Wonder Bowl team to a first inning lead. It would be short lived as The Paint Crew’s bats exploded for thirteen runs. Nick Frias had two hits and scored four times, Jack Anderson tripled, and Quentin Frias went 4-4 with six RBI.

Friday May 13

T.S. Sports 7, Palace Pizza 4: Donovan Libby tossed a complete for TS Sports striking out 12 along the way. Matteo Pacheco had a fine game for Palace going 3-3 for The Pizza Crew. Ultimately TS Sports would come out on top behind Jacob Antonio’s two hits out of the leadoff spot, and Libby’s two hits and three RBI. Drew Medeiros, Aiden DaSilva, and Justin Rebello checked in offensively for TS Sports as well to keep their team among the ranks of the undefeated.

ACG 10, Amaral’s 1: Colton Almeida picked up the win for ACG striking out twelve and scattering four hits to nail down his team’s first win of the season. Almeida was also locked in at the plate 2-4 and scoring twice. Ty Ross had a great game as well going 3-3 and driving in two runs. Mikey Lopez had two hits, while Jack Fleurent continued his fine play for Amaral’s.

Dave’s 8, Kitchens & Baths 1: Chayse Mello tossed a two-hitter striking out twelve in a complete game effort, Mello also went 3-3 at the plate. Nathan Cook hit a two-run homer, and teammate Dominic Padilla had two hits and an RBI to help his team chalk up their third win of the season. Myles Segueria and Don Lopes Jr had hits for Kitchens & Baths.
