SouthCoast high school scores and highlights from Friday, April 14

Here's a look at the scores and highlights from Friday's high school action on the SouthCoast.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Apponequet 18, Old Rochester 9

Cece Levrault erupted for eight goals as the Lakers knocked off defending South Coast Conference champion Old Rochester. Jayleigh Haworth added four goals while Emilia Keane chipped in with three. Addie Taylor had two and Celia Hiller had one. Abby Menendez, Hannah Procaccini, Cynthia Morales and Meri Hayward were all outstanding on defense, according to Apponequet head coach Cindy Cuthbertson. Allison Arruda made 12 saves. The Lakers (2-1) visit GNB Voc-Tech on Monday at 9 a.m.

BOYS LACROSSE

Old Colony 16, Bristol-Plymouth 1

Luke Melia (assist) and Will Harrop (four assists) both scored five goals while Mason Belanger added three. Brody Darling chipped in with two goals. Ryan Chase had one goal and one assist. The Cougars (6-0, 6-0) host Tri-County on Monday at 3:30 p.m.

Dighton-Rehoboth 10, Fairhaven 3

Shea Cripps made 10 saves while Barrett Becotte, Owen Centeio and Jarrod Frates each had one goal. Hugo Surprenant and Colin Tavares chipped in with an assist apiece. The Blue Devils (1-4, 0-3 SCC) visit Seekonk on Tuesday.

SOFTBALL

Old Colony 26, Upper Cape 4, 5 Innings

The Cougars (2-2, 2-1 MAC Small) captured their second straight win with a big day at the plate from Laila Sevis, who went 5-for-5 with four runs scored, seven RBIs and a stolen base. Patty Spillane went 1-for-3 and reached in all five at bats. She scored four runs, had two RBIs and a stolen base. Delaney Bazydlo had two hits, two runs scored and three RBIs. Felicity Kulak went five innings, allowing four earned runs off six hits while walking three and striking out five. “Felicity really did a tremendous job in the circle this week, and I’m happy we continued to be strong at bat and played excellent defense behind her today so she could continue to pitch with confidence,” said Old Colony head coach Brandon Mendez.

GNB Voc-Tech 15, Dartmouth 6

Hayleigh Silva went the distance, striking out 10 while allowing five earned runs off 10 hits and three walks. Silva also went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored. Ana Tsonis was 1-for-5 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored. Hailey Soares went 3-for-5 with an RBI and run scored. Alexia Tsonis was 2-for-4 with four runs scored. Zoe Texeira was 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Ava Neno went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Megan Arruda took the loss for Dartmouth, allowing 13 runs on nine hits while striking out one and walking one in 5.1 innings. Aubrey Carberry had a home run. Olivia Rapoza led Dartmouth with three hits. The Bears (4-2, 1-1 SCC) visit Case at 11 a.m. on Monday. Dartmouth (3-1, 0-0 SEC) visits GNB Voc-Tech at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in a rematch.

BASEBALL

GNB Voc-Tech 6, Dartmouth 2

The Bears captured their second straight win thanks to a strong performance on the mound from Cam Cabral, who went six innings, allowing one earned run off two hits while striking out two. He also went 2-for-3 and scored two runs. Jhaden Reis was 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored. He also made an outstanding diving catch in right field. Nate Roderigues had a key sacrifice bunt which led to three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Chace Feno had one of Dartmouth’s three hits. Luke Aaronson went four innings, allowing three unearned runs off one hit while striking out four and walking one. The Bears (3-2, 2-2) host Case on Monday. Dartmouth (2-2, 0-0 SEC) faces Bridgewater-Raynham at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in the Plymouth North Tournament.

Tabor 7, Portsmouth Abbey 1

Mac London, Mikey Radek and Kentaro Suzuki combined for a one-hitter while Ben Tingley Prince and Cole Taylor each had home runs to lead the offense for the Seawolves (3-1, 2-0 ISL).

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

New Bedford 3, Durfee 2

Carter Barbosa dished out 38 assists and had 12 service points to power the Whalers to a thrilling 22-25, 25-14, 25-15, 20-25, 17-15 win in their Southeast Conference opener. Nick Rosa led the way with 15 kills while Jensen Farnworth added 11. Amir Salih Tavares (seven kills), Dilson DaCosta Teixeira (eight kills and seven blocks), Davon Shields (five kills), Ronis Ayala (11 service points and 13 digs), Connor Silva (11 digs) and Davon Centeio (eight digs) also contributed. The Whalers (4-2, 1-0 SEC) host Brockton on April 24.

GIRLS TRACK

GNB Voc-Tech 72, Apponequet 64

Training 64-53, the Bears (2-0) rallied to win the final three events to pull off a major upset over the Lakers. Winning for Voc-Tech were Koral Mederios in the shot put and discus, Natalie Mattos in the javelin, Liane Fortes in 400 hurdles and 100 hurdles, Madalyn Duarte in the 800 and 2 mile, the 4x100 relay of Mia Linhares, Tiffany Bradford, Krystal Mederios and Mattos and the 4x400 relay of Emily Antao, Kathy Rivera Dias, Sophie Periera and Elizabeth Fagundes. “Our first two meets of the season have shown the tough competitive attitude through the hard work of our team having to come back in both meets to win in the final two relays,” said GNB Voc-Tech head coach Mark Thornhill.

Old Rochester 76, Somerset Berkley 60

Audrey Thomas won the 100 (13.2) and 200 (27.4) to pace the Bulldogs. Other winners for ORR were Corrine Robert in the mile (5:57.6), Maddie Conner in the 800 (2:39.4), Delilah Post in the 400 (65.8), Gabby Pinhancos in the 100 hurdles (18.1) and Hannah Whallery in the 2-mile (13:24.2) as well as the 4x400 team of Post, Arielle Troupe, Conner and Madeline Dugas.

BOYS TRACK

GNB Voc-Tech 84, Apponequet 51

Dan Ward won the high jump, 400 and 400 hurdles to pace the undefeated Bears (2-0), Jarred Quann was first in the 100 and 200. Voc-Tech also got wins from Justin Andrade in the long jump, Marcus Pires in the triple jump, Pierce Tremblay in the 110 hurdles and William Guillotte in the 2-mile.

Old Rochester 96, Somerset Berkley 40

The Bulldogs were led by double winners Calder Eaton, Sam Balsis and Phillip LeGassick. Eaton won the long jump (18-3) and 110 hurdles (15-9) while Balsis took first in the triple jump (38-06.50) and 400 hurdles (60.7) and LeGassick was fastest in the 100 (11.3) and 200 (23.1). Other winners for ORR were Braeden Christopher in the high jump (5-10), Hunter Bishop in the javelin (152-5), Murray Copps in the mile (4:43.3) and Nolan Bushnell in the 800 (2:05). ORR also won the 4x400 (Copps, Jackson Veughan, Tyler Young and Bushnell) and 4x100 (Mateo Pina, Jacksen Martin, Theo Cecil and Eaton).

Bridgewater-Raynham 83, Dartmouth 53

Tyler Medeiros qualified for states in the 800 with a first-place time of 2:04, which was also a personal best. He also came in second in the triple jump (personal-best 38-8). Will Fairfax won the 110 hurdles (17.4) and came in second in the 400 hurdles (64.7). Braden Medeiros took second in both the shot put (personal-best 44-0) and discus (personal-best 115-6) while Elaijah Monteiro came in second in the mile (4:59) and 800 (personal-best 2:07). Dartmouth (0-1, 0-1 SEC) visits New Bedford on April 26.

GIRLS TENNIS

Old Rochester 4, Seekonk 1

Emily Wyman captured her first varsity win at third singles (6-2, 6-1) for Old Rochester (3-1, 3-0).
