SouthCoast high school scores and highlights from Wednesday, May 18

Here's a look at the scores and highlights from Wednesday's high school action on the SouthCoast.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Old Colony 8, South Shore 7

Abby Pitts scored seven goals to surpass 100 for her career and lead the Cougars to victory. Emma Canastra added one goal while Kathleen Simoes had 15 saves. The Cougars (6-9, 3-3 MAC) visit Tri-County on Friday.

Old Rochester 17, Bourne 2

Maddie Wright led the way for ORR with eight goals and two assists while Kelly Quinlan added three goals. Sydnee Pires (one goal, two assists), Grace Long (one goal and one assist) and Kam Rodrigues (one goal) also contributed offensively. The Bulldogs (14-2, 9-0 SCC) visit Dighton-Rehoboth on Friday.

Apponequet 12, Seekonk 11

Emilia Keane had a team-high four goals while Abby Vincent added three. Riley Levrault and Addi Taylor chipped in with two goals apiece and Celia Hiller scored once. Allison Arruda had eight saves. The Lakers (10-5) host Bourne on May 25. .

GNB Voc-Tech 8, Bristol-Plymouth 6

Izzy Fragata led the team with five goals as the Bears (4-9) won on Senior Night. Alannah Paiva, Sara Hartford and Julia Hartford each scored one while Morgan Teves had five assists.

BOYS LACROSSE

Apponequet 12, Seekonk 6

Sean DelGuidice powered the Lakers by scoring four goals and dishing out three assists. Kenny Wisniewski (two goals and one assist), Harrison Lemieux (two goals), Justyn Hooper (two goals), Aiden Byers (one goal) and Jake Flounders (one goal) also contributed offensively while Hunter Owen made eight saves. The Lakers (11-3, 7-3 SCC) visit Bourne on Wednesday.

Old Colony 15, South Shore 14

The Cougars captured their 13th straight win. Old Colony (15-1, 14-1 MAC) hosts Tri-County on Friday at 7 p.m. for an opportunity to win Old Colony's first ever Mayflower Championship in boys lacrosse.

Arlington Catholic 8, Bishop Stang 6

Eli Ikella led the Spartans with two goals while Connor Fitzpatrick, Andrew Weaver, Quinn Pine and Jacob Mikutowicz each scored once.  Mike Jones had 11 saves.  The Spartans host Cardinal Spellman on Saturday at 11 a.m.

SOFTBALL

Fairhaven 12, Old Rochester 0, 5 innings

Gabriela Rocha-Medeiros pitched her third shutout of the season for Fairhaven (11-6, 7-3 SCC) as she allowed five hits and one walk while striking out eight. She also had a home run over the fence and went 1-for-1 with an RBI and three walks. Sydney Merusi went 4-for-4 with a double and four RBIs while Arden Bradshaw was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Ava Pepin and Holly Perdigao each added a hit.

New Bedford 4, Brockton 0

Hayleigh Chenard was the starting pitcher for New Bedford (11-5, 3-2 SEC) and pitched very well in her first start of the season. She pitched three innings, facing only 10 batters, striking out two and giving up one hit. Lilly Gray was the winning pitcher, going four innings, striking out 10 and giving up three hits. Lily Gonet and Annabelle Huston led the offense with a single and double each.

Bristol-Aggie 5, Old Colony 4

In addition to allowing two earned runs off six hits and three walks with six strikeouts, Abby Orzechowski went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. The Cougars tied the game at four with her two-run double in the sixth inning. Patty Spillane was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and two stolen bases while Allison Bumpus had two RBIs. The Cougars (4-11, 2-7 MAC) visit Cape Cod Tech on Friday.

Somerset Berkley 14, Dartmouth 0

Somerset Berkley took the lead on a home run in the first inning. Dartmouth struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Somerset Berkley. Kalisa Pomfret, Aubrey Carberry and Hannah Garcia each collected one hit. Dartmouth (7-8, 3-2 SEC) hosts Durfee at 4 p.m. on Friday at UMass Dartmouth.

BASEBALL

Austin Prep 12, Bishop Stang 0

The Spartans had more errors (four) than hits (two) as they suffered a tough loss in the championship game of the Catholic Central League Cup. Cam Letourneau and Ryan Jones (double) both went 1-for-2. Seamus Marshall allowed 11 runs (seven earned) off 10 hits and no walks with one strikeout in 3 plus innings. Jacob Laudati pitched one inning of relief, allowing one earned run off three hits and one walk while striking out one. Stang (11-4) hosts Durfee on Monday.

Apponequet 7, East Bridgewater 6, 8 innings

In a back and forth game, the Lakers plated two runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game and a Nate Levesque sacrifice fly put the Lakers up for good in the eighth inning for a thrilling extra inning win. Levesque had two hits and two RBIs in addition to pitching four innings, allowing no runs off six hits and no walks while striking out five. Justyn Machie (one hit), Tanner Auydatis (one hit, one RBI), Maddoxx Rosyski (one hit, one RBI), Liam MacPhail (one hit, two RBIs) and Dylan Bradley (one hit) also contributed offensively. Connor Johnson pitched four innings in relief, striking out one to improve to 3-1 on the season. The Lakers (11-6, 5-5 SCC) host Dighton-Rehoboth on Friday.

Dartmouth 9, Somerset Berkley 3

Dartmouth scored five runs in a big first inning to capture its 11th win of the season. Dartmouth's offense in the inning came from singles by Chase Lackie, Chace Feno and Matt Lariviere. Feno earned the win as he went five innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out nine. Luke Aaronson and Grayden Costa helped to close out the game in relief. Donovan Burgo, Jacob Moniz, and Feno all managed multiple hits. Dartmouth (11-5, 5-1 SEC) visits Durfee on Friday.

Brockton 11, New Bedford 5

Elijah Carpenter led the offense going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and one RBI. Freshman Joe Castelo pitched the last 3 2/3 innings for the Whalers (4-12, 2-5 SEC), striking out four and allowing just two earned runs.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

New Bedford 3, Framingham 0

Ryan Dosenberg had 16 kills to power the Whalers as they punched a ticket to the playoffs with their 10th win. Kishan Patel added eight kills while Carter Barbosa had 31 assists and Andre Maldonado added 10 service points. New Bedford (10-7, 2-1) hosts Durfee on Friday for Senior Night.

BOYS TENNIS

Apponequet 3, Old Rochester 2

With the win, the Lakers (14-2, 11-0 SCC) clinched the South Coast Conference championship. Winning for Apponequet were No. 1 Nate Belmore 6-2, 6-0 over Marc Pothier, No. 2 Colin Belmore 6-2, 6-1 over Markus Pierre and No. 3 Will Horton 75-, 6-1 over Zander Harrigan. ORR’s first doubles team of Max Vivino and Riley Farrell beat Jason Demers and Ethan Clark 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 while Lukas Michaelis and Peter le Gassick were 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 winners over Nathaniel Kumlin and Judson Cardinali at No. 2.

Fairhaven 4, Seekonk 1

The Blue Devils swept singles action with wins from No. 1 Kole Pinto (6-2, 6-0), No. 2 Isaac Petruski (6-0, 6-0) and No. 3 Coby Yin (6-0, 6-1). Fairhaven’s first doubles team of Noah Pacheco and Chris Hu won 3-6, 6-4, 10-6. The Blue Devils (12-4, 10-2 SCC) visit Old Rochester on Thursday.

GIRLS TENNIS

Bishop Stang 4, Bishop Fenwick 1

The Spartans (13-4, 9-4 CCL) got wins from No. 1 Lexy Wynn (6-4, 6-0), No. 2 Sarah Pothier (6-4, 6-3), No. 1 doubles Jenna Domagala and Maeve Egger (6-1, 6-2) and No. 2 doubles Lilly Manning and Sophia Berard (6-1, 6-3).
