SouthCoast high school scores and highlights from Wednesday, Oct. 26

Here's a look at the scores and highlights from Wednesday's high school action on the SouthCoast.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Dartmouth 3, Barnstable 0

Dartmouth won 25-19, 25-20, 25-20 to beat Barnstable in girls volleyball for the first time in school history. “Beyond excited and proud of how we performed is an understatement,” said Dartmouth head coach Rachel Lassey. Lauren Augusto dished out 32 assists while Brooke Davis had 16 digs and eight kills. Adeline Ablett was 15 of 17 with 10 kills while Ava Crane had 10 digs and 12 kills. Haley Jenkins had 13 service points and was 14 of 15 at the net with seven kills. Erynn Jasparro chipped in with six digs while Olivia Arruda had seven digs and was 6 for 6 on serve receive. Dartmouth (16-3) hosts Old Rochester on Friday at 5 p.m. in both teams’ regular season finale.

Bourne 3, Apponequet 2

The Lakers (7-13, 3-10 SCC) came up short, falling 19-25, 23-25, 25-19, 25-23, 8-15. Lacie Nolin had nine digs, seven service points and two aces while Elizabeth Ashley had 11 service points, four aces and two digs. Delaney Jacobsen had 15 service points, five aces, two digs and four kills.

GNB Voc-Tech 3, Wareham 0

Lilly Misay led the Bears (13-7) with 17 digs, eight kills and four aces while Elle McCormack contributed 19 assists. For Wareham, Fredi Gakidis had six digs and seven kills while Riley Florindo added 12 digs. Stoney Ferry chipped in with four digs while Makayla Young had four digs and one kill.

Tri-County 3, Old Colony 0

Samantha Tavares had five aces, one kill and five digs while Morgan Berry had one ace, three kills and one dig. Allison Bumpus had one kill and five digs, Ambra Arsenault had two aces and four digs while Arianna Ribeiro chipped in with four digs and Jessie Anderson had three. It was the final match of the season for the Cougars, who finished 4-15 overall and 2-8 in the MAC.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

SEC Championship

Dartmouth’s Elaijah Monteiro finished first at the Southeast Conference championship with a personal-best time of 16:53.8 at Wrentham to help Dartmouth come in second place behind Brockton. New Bedford took fourth. Also for Dartmouth, Sam Shrestha came in fourth (personal-best 17:36.2) while Nick Silva was sixth (personal-best 17:52.6). Jacob Anuszczyk (18:29.7) and Bronson Garriga (18:56.8) both ran personal-bests. For New Bedford, Joe Castello ran 18:40 (15th), followed by John Paul Morris (22nd; 20:16) and Matthew Lavoie (24th; 20:26).

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

SEC Championship

Dartmouth finished second behind Bridgewater-Raynham while New Bedford came in third at Wrentham. New Bedford’s Madalena Morris took fourth overall in 20:23. “I give her a lot of credit. She made a big move for second, but it didn't work out,” said New Bedford coach Jeremy Tilton. “Still she ran a strong race and ran a solid time.” Haleigh Chenard ran 25:32, followed by Abby Zhang with 27:31. For Dartmouth, Lauren Kelly took fifth (personal-best 21:07.2) while Serena Carnes came in sixth (21:22.7) and Amya Moura was eighth (personal-best 22:31.4).

BOYS SOCCER

Dartmouth 4, Apponequet 0

For Apponequet (1-14-1, 1-9-1 SCC), Josh Snyder made eight saves.

Old Rochester 0, Bourne 0

Sophomore Emile Joseph had his sixth shutout of the season in goal in the Bulldogs’ regular season finale. Playing well for Old Rochester (9-3-5, 8-2-2 SCC) were Sam Balsis, Ryan Blanchette, Matt Carvalho, Bennett Chase, Will Correia, Liam Geraghty, Paul Petronelli, Sam Ortega and Sam Williamson

GIRLS SOCCER

Old Rochester 5, Bourne 1

Izzy Feeney and Audrey Thomas each had a goal and an assist while Emily Abbott, Delaney Chase and Kate Thomsen added one goal apiece for ORR (6-10-2).

Blue Hills 3, Old Colony 1

Even in a tough loss. Breanna Arruda was outstanding in net with 16 saves, five of them on breakaways. Avrie Oliveria was again solid in the midfield as well as Lilah White, who assisted on the goal from Lily Tose. Izzy Hougasian and Teagan Stuart played well defensively. The Cougars (5-7-4, 4-5-3 MAC) visit Bristol-Aggie on Friday.

FIELD HOCKEY

Bishop Stang 1, New Bedford 1

Bishop Stang’s goal was scored by Sydney Plouffe with an assist from Olivia Brousseau. Kailey Araujo was solid on defense. The Spartans (7-6-4, 1-4-1 CCL) visit Somerset Berkley on Saturday at 1 p.m.
