SouthCoast high school scores and highlights from Friday, May 20

Here's a look at the scores and highlights from Friday's high school action on the SouthCoast.

SOFTBALL

Dartmouth 14, Durfee 13, 12 Innings

With the game tied at 13, Desirae Paiva singled on the first pitch of her at bat, driving in the winning run to lift Dartmouth to the walk-off victory in the 12th inning. Megan Arruda was the winning pitcher as she lasted 12 innings, allowing 13 runs off 15 hits while striking out nine. Hannah Gracia had a home run for Dartmouth, which tallied 20 hits in the game. Gracia, Aubrey Carberry, Kalisa Pomfret, Lily Gioiosa, Sofia Dias, Rapoza and Paiva all had multiple hits for Dartmouth. Garcia went 4-for-6 at the plate to lead the way. Dartmouth (8-8, 4-2) visits Brockton on Monday.

Old Colony 20, Cape Cod Tech 4

Felicity Kulak went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs in addition to pitching seven innings, allowing four earned runs off three hits with nine strikeouts. Kayleigh deSousa (2-for-3 with a double and four runs scored), Patty Spillane (2-for-4 with a double, a run scored, three stolen bases and three RBIs) and Samantha Tavares (2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored) also contributed. The Cougars (5-11, 3-7 MAC) visit Blue Hills on Tuesday.

BASEBALL

Dartmouth 7, Durfee 4

Harvey Berube went seven innings, allowing four hits and four runs while striking out four. Dartmouth hit two home runs on the day. Berube went for the long ball in the sixth inning. Chase Lackie went yard in the seventh inning. Ethan Marques had two hits while Keegan Humason had one with an RBI. Chace Feno went 2-for-4 at the plate. Dartmouth (12-5, 6-1 SEC) hosts Brockton at 4 p.m. on Monday at UMass Dartmouth.

Old Colony 9, Cape Cod Tech 0

The Cougars wrapped up the Mayflower Athletic Conference Small Vocational championship with the win. Kyle St. Jean went 3-for-3 with a walk, a double, an RBI and four runs scored while Matt McGuiggan was 4-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Chris Hedlund (1-for-3 with a walk, triple and two runs scored), Collin Tetrault (RBI), Mason Santos (walk, RBI and run scored), Chase LaFountain (2-for-3), Trevor Taveira (2-for-3 with an RBI) and Jaryd DosAnjos (1-for-3) also contributed. The Cougars (11-6, 9-1 MAC) host GNB Voc-Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Pope Park.

Dighton-Rehoboth 10, Apponequet 3

The game was tied 3-3 after six innings with Apponequet's Justyn Machie pitching well, but unfortunately the Lakers walked five batters with three different pitchers in the top of the seventh and D-R took full advantage, exploding for seven runs. Tanner Audyatis and Machie (RBI) each had two hits while Maddoxx Rosyski had a hit and RBI and Hayden Westgate, Dylan Bradley and Austyn Travis each had one hit. The Lakers (11-7, 5-6 SCC) visit Old Rochester on Monday.

Somerset Berkley 5, Old Rochester 3

The Bulldogs were up 3-0 with one out in the fifth, but Somerset Berkley scored four unanswered runs to pull out the win. Lucas Mello pitched five innings, allowing three earned runs off five hits with four walks and four strikeouts. Alec Marsden went 2-for-4 while Lucas McElroy was 2-for-3 with a stolen base. Mello and Noah Borgiorno each had RBI singles. ORR (9-8, 6-5 SCC) hosts Apponequet on Monday.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Old Rochester 17, Dighton-Rehoboth 5

Maddie Wright notched seven goals and four assists to power Old Rochester. Kelly Quinlan added four goals and one assist while Tessa Winslow had 17 saves. The Bulldogs (15-2, 10-0 SCC) host Cape Cod Academy on Monday at 4 p.m.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

New Bedford 3, Durfee 0

With the 25-22, 25-20, 30-28 win on Senior Night, the Whalers finished as co-champs of the Big 3. Kishan Patel had 10 kills and was 13 of 14 in serve receive while Ryan Dosenberg had 13 kills. Andre Santos had nine service points and eight blocks. Jaiden Gomes-Watson had six assists and Sam Mosher had five total blocks. New Bedford (11-7, 3-1 Big 3) hosts North Quincy on Monday in its final regular season match.

BOYS TENNIS

Apponequet 5, New Bedford 0

The Lakers swept singles action with wins from No. 1 Colin Belmore 6-0, 6-0 over Hugo Jacob-Reigoa, No. 2 Jason Demers 6-0, 6-0 over Micah Ortiz and No. 3 Judson Cardinali 6-0, 6-0 over Michael O’Leary. The first doubles team of Jimmy Lenza and Nick Connolly beat Lars Faria and Jack Harding 6-1, 6-0 while Dylan Barreira and Jake Correia were 6-0, 6-0 winners at No. 2. The Lakers (15-2, 11-0 SCC) face Bourne on Tuesday.

GIRLS TENNIS

Apponequet 5, New Bedford 0

Apponequet’s No. 1 Maya Fontinha defeated Emma Gibney 6-1, 6-3 while Kohana Fontinha beat Sofia Beltran 6-0, 6-1 at second singles while Liz Ashley won 6-0, 6-1 over Daniella Costa at No. 3.The first doubles team of Hanna Kamara and Lila Neilson won 3-0 injury default and the second doubles team of Emma Lehane and Jolie Decas defeated Maddie Rodrigues and Cassie Martin 6-1, 6-1.
