SouthCoast high school scores and highlights from Thursday, Jan. 26

Here's a look at the scores and highlights from Thursday's high school action on the SouthCoast.

GIRLS BASKETBALL 

Apponequet 50, Fairhaven 32

CC Levrault connected on five 3-pointers en route to a team-high 21 points to power the Lakers. Hannah Kuriscak hit three 3-pointers and finished with 15 points. “CC and Hannah really carried us in some crucial times of the game,” said Apponequet head coach Trevor Gagnier. For Fairhaven (3-11, 3-7 SCC), Maya Medeiros had 15 points, connecting on 7 of 10 free throws. Abby Thomas added seven points and Kyra Joseph chipped in with five. The Blue Devils visit Carver on Wednesday. Apponequet (7-6, 7-2 SCC) hosts Dartmouth on Tuesday.

New Bedford 53, Barnstable 32

Vanessa Bucha led the way with 17 points while Lexi Thompson added 15 as the Whalers captured their eighth win of the season. New Bedford (8-3, 1-3 SEC) visits Taunton on Sunday at 2 p.m.

BOYS HOCKEY

Bishop Feehan 7, Bishop Stang 0

The Spartans were outshot 28-14. Stang (3-6-1, 1-0-0) hosts Apponequet at 8 p.m. on Saturday at Hetland.

GIRLS SWIMMING

Apponequet vs. Seekonk and Old Rochester

Apponequet got first-place finishes from Lauren Bernaiche in the 50 freestyle (28.68) and 100 breaststroke (1:22.18) and Charlotte Carvalho in the 200 freestyle (2:24.74). Kallie Fournier qualified for sectionals in the 200 IM (2:25.81) and states in the 100 butterfly (1:04.95). For Old Rochester, Corrine Hibbert was second in the 50 freestyle (29.32) and third in the 100 backstroke (1:16.40) and Elizabeth Chubb took second in the 100 breaststroke (1:23.82) and third in the 500 freestyle (6:37.50). The 400 freestyle relay of Gianna Annunziato, Anya Walker, Reilly Patraiko and Abigail Daniels took second (5:09.70). Finishing third were Katie Anderson in the 50 freestyle (29.46), Ella Shultz in the 100 butterfly (1:14.90) and Angela Palmer in the 100 freestyle (1:18.14) as well as the 200 medley relay with Anderson, Chubb, Shultz and Hibbert (2:12.51) and the 200 freestyle relay with Hibbert, Caitlyn Lund, Chubb and Anderson (2:00.25). The Lakers compete Monday against Old Rochester at 4 p.m.

BOYS SWIMMING

Apponequet vs. Seekonk and Old Rochester

The Lakers got wins from David Jope in the 50 freestyle (26.19), Eugene Jung in the 100 butterfly (1:02.88) and Hunter Owen in the 100 backstroke (1:06.60) as well as the 200 freestyle relay team (1:44.18) of Jung, Levi Jope, Jope and Owen. Jung qualified for states in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.90). Tate Peterson won the 100 freestyle (54.36) and took third in the 200 freestyle (2:07.19) for the undefeated Bulldogs. Placing second for ORR were Ian Shultz in the 200 IM (2:29.83), Nicholas Gouin in the 50 freestyle (28.44), Riley Karo in the 100 butterfly (1:04.34) and Jacob Nelson in the 500 freestyle (6:59.88) as well as the 200 medley relay (2:00.38) of Shultz, Zachary Travis, Karo and Peterson, the 200 freestyle relay (1;45.98) of Lee Grondin, Karo, Shultz and Peterson and the 400 freestyle relay (4:40.63) of Rosa, Marcus Robichaud and Gouin. The Lakers compete Monday against Old Rochester at 4 p.m.

GIRLS TRACK

Wareham 34, Seekonk 32

Winning events for Wareham were Sienna Cabe in the 55 hurdles (9.4), Peyton Smith in the 600 (2:04.2), Jelissa Torrence in the 300 (49.8) and Fredi Gakidis in the high jump (4-06). The Vikings (3-2, 2-2 SCC) compete Saturday during the MSTCA Coaches Invitational in Boston.

BOYS TRACK

Seekonk 49, Wareham 18

Winning events for Wareham were Gabe Silva in the 55 dash (6.7) and Aiden Robert in the 55 hurdles (8.2). The Vikings (2-3, 2-2 SCC) compete Saturday during the MSTCA Coaches Invitational in Boston.
